Something amazings happened these past few days.

See as I've explained painting has renaissances. Namely the blocking, layering, and inking renaissances that I've had, and the blending renaissance I'm currently going through.

But I got to be a part of something amazing today. I saw Gaz, my mighty padawan, come through his renaissance.

I gave him a model the other day, gave him a single night to paint it, and sent him on his merry way. He brought it back unfinished, but it doesn't matter. I happily did the face, which he still isn't confident on but I'll give him some time on that yet.

His renaissance came though a mistake. He got white on the cloak of his model. This then turned into some amazing free hand work the likes of which I'd struggle to do. He then took it the extra step (the entire coat has free hand).

I have never met a painter with so much promise who so far hasnt done anything with it. He knew today when he'd painted the free hand that had he learnt these things a year ago, he'd be games day material today.

He's got three years to improve till he gets to my age. In three years he will be the best painter in Manchester by a good stretch, give him five years and he'll have his first slayer sword.

I know I sound like I'm over exaggerating. I know I sound an over proud parent, but he's learnt in two weeks what I learnt in two years. You do the maths.

I'll try and get some pictures up of his work but it is by far some of the best young work I've seen.

He doesn't know it yet, but I've made him an order with my local supplier for a mass of paints, paint brushes and spray - enough to set him up good and proper. 30 pots of paint, one of each type of brush, two fine detail, two revell brushes, two tins of spray paint and a lamp should see him making a break for a trophy.

I'm already encouraging him to begin a games day entery because it will be an honor and a pleasure to compete alongside him.
