Asmodai Dark (The Eternal Builder, servant of Howard, Crom, and Beans)

I appologise for the recent mega spat of journal enteries. Ill ease off now i promice (not that anyone other then my mate Tony posts here, but anywho)

Fred Dibnah has died. I dont know the full story but he's died which isnt good for the world. He was ace. He knew everything about obscure buildings that no one cared about. He reminded me of mr fisher...

Now Mr Fisher was argueably the greatest mechanical minds of this age. You could see them being related, Rodney (His real name) and Fred. What Mr Fisher didnt know about making stuff wasnt worth knowing. He once showed a group of lads, with obviously no aspirations in life his current project. He had the whole class, made up of the low lifes and those who wanted to make stuff, enraptured as he discussed how he was making this little vice that was about as big as his hand. Why was he building it one lad asked. His reply was simply because he felt like it. Not out of necessity, or because he'd been told, merely because he wanted to exercise his vast understanding of such a complex process (And making a vice is bloody hard beleive me). Dibnah was the same.

So when Mr Fisher left, feeling rather annoyed at Moorside due to there poor funding of his department (There were claims that Mr Burrows ran technology, but Mr Fisher just needed to look at Mr Burrows and he shrank to nothing at his sheer power), i gained my regular knowledge fix from Dibnah. We had a running joke when he died that Mr Fisher had actually gone off to become Fred Dibnah, unable to continue with his double life of fame and education.

In away there both dinosaurs. Relics of by gone ages with power unimaginable. Both clearly had an understanding of mechanics that i doubt ill ever see again.

I did find out though, that he used to teach my uncle Chris (only five weeks left till he leaves Her Majestys finest holding establishment), and he was the same then as he is now.

So raise your glasses (or frozen micro pizza and guinness in my case) to the legends that are Rodney and Fred.
