h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

A few days ago I bought some Eldar Rangers from GW. Now this journal isnt about the hard sell I got from two GW staff (which, after two days of solid painting, wasnt what I needed), but why I went to GW to buy these models, and what happened afterwards.

Now these had been my reward for working hard. It was a good reward because the models are simply gorgeous and ooze coolness - there snipers in leather coats (or at least, mine will be in gorgeous red armour, mmmmm). When I saw them a few months back I went slightly crazy because they simply look better then anything GW have done so far in my opinion.

But there in lyed the dilema - they looked too good for me to do them justice.

So I bought them, assembled them, and whacked them on my desk in a group pose so that I could look at them for awhile and consider color scheme.

Whilst doing this, I thought I'd look on ebay and see if anyone had painted them up yet, because someone always paints up the new figures out there and whacks them up. No one had, but in my looking I spied the cheapest boxed GW figures I'd ever seen.

Guardians, at the old old price of 12quid per box.

No, this is wrong, surely this is a one off.

Oh no, this person had a shop... and he had three boxes... and falcon grav tanks for 13 quid (rrp 15...). This had to be wrong so I mailed him, asking how long these prices would go on for.

He replied indefinately.

So I sat back, relaxed, and thought 'Meh I'll wait till loan day, paint the rangers ready, then get these'

Oh foolish Mark!

Someone bought a guardian box. I panicked. Then everything went, and I panicked more.

So no surprise when I looked today, and saw two boxes of guardians and two boxes of tanks I couldnt really stop myself.

So by the end of next week, I'll have (because I also picked up another cheap box):
48 Eldar guardians
2 Falcon grav tanks
5 Eldar Rangers
1 Warlock

Why am I doing this? Well the new codex is due out in exactly 4 months time, at which point every body will want them - with the addition of the army box when it comes out, I could make a killing on these models that would outshine all of my grand schemes!


Apart from that, I've seen my sister again yesterday. Actually I woke up monday evening, heard news about things on monday night, headed for the train station about 1am, got told there wasnt a train till 3:30 (bus replacement), got on that - arrive in manchester about 5, headed for irlam (in a free taxi - although not an intentionally free taxi so woo!), got there, stayed up till 8ish, got to dads office, then she turned up.

Shes changed so much I cant begin to explain, but shes the same as well. Its hard to explain but its like the essence of her has shifted whilst she hasnt changed its really odd. Just a different vibe coming from her. I got a new picture as well so thats one for every time I've seen her but that'll increase soon.

After that I had an hours sleep, before heading off to my youngest sister-in-laws sports day (shes got upset because she didnt win anything even though she tried her hardest - which she did bless her) before picking up my other sister-in-law and heading of to bolton where we head the ducks - this was a great laugh because Dad decided it'd be a great idea to walk into the middest of huge gang of swans with bread so we all got chase - bar me, mainly because so told the swan to f... off if he knows whats good for it, although it might also be because I had no bread.

After that I had a rolo milkshake which is divine, before heading home.

Now you'd think with a day like that I'd sleep - ha!

For some reason I was up till 4am.

Oh and I've also lost everything on my computer, including my animated film which upsets me alot because that was a film i'd dedicated to my sister and really focused on her, but now its gone I dont mind too much - she knows I'm making a film for her (and on 8mm too, no expense spared!) and if all goes well then we'll have access before christmas (taking her shopping is so going to kill my bank account I can tell it already)
