I got an e-mail from my PhD supervisor (Roddy) yesterday. He put my name at the top - Doggie.
He usually calls me Duggie. Most people round here do and I trace the usage back to Caius. I don't mind Duggie. In fact, I'm quite happy with it. I was never called Duggie before I came to the Law School - except by Glaswegians, and from them in was preferable to their alternative, viz Doog.
Doggie is, however, by any standards, a bridge too far and I am pondering anent retaliation by referring to him as Proddy.
We have a date for the shower installation, which means we can begin to plan the other works.
