Journal Entries
And so...2 years later
Posted May 18, 2005
(For readers who are reading this entry for the first time, having brilliantly bypassed its predecessor, will find the beginning of this entry rather strange and disjointed. Worry not. I, who had so ingeniously written the aforementioned prequel, and this subsequent entry, is at this precise moment, feeling rather strange and disjointed, which goes quite a way to explain why things are the way they are...so carry then !)
...What on Earth was I talking about ? I vaguely remember the intention to write something about the bombing of the Marriot Hotel in Jakarta (which is the capital city of The Republic of Indonesia, in case you didn't realize), and was rudely interrupted in the exercise. Now that I am again free of interuptions, I just realized that almost 2 years had passed, and I had completely forgotten what it was that I wanted to explain, except to say that whatever that distracted me from completing my task must have been quite significant, to have been able to keep me distracted over the interim period.
In any case, whatever feelings of anger and disgust at that incident had now been replaced by completely new things which anger and disgusts me.
But more on that later, and hopefully not another 2 years, I have taken the care to bookmark this page so as to enable me to return to it periodically.
So from this side of the planet, HI THERE ! HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL AND GOOD !
Goodnight !

This is my first ever journal entry here, which explains the subject line, as opposed to the other first times in my life where I had ventured forth and did something completely new, like milking a cow or something.....which I actually haven't done before, but may get around to doing someday. And I suppose since its my journal, I am allowed to ramble on a bit before it gets a little more interesting, although I doubt if anyone out there would actually find anything I write remotely interesting at all.
OK, now down to business, in my introduction, I had already mentioned that I am a fan of Douglas Adams, having read everything he had published in book form, with the notable exception of The Meaning and The Deeper Meaning of Liff.
These books have provided me endless hours of fun, and had provided me a much need escape from the reality of marriage, parenthood and living an expatriate existence in Jakarta, and also make 2 hours of traffic jam seem more tolerable.
(is there any limit to the length of this thing?)
Now....Jakarta, Indonesia, 12 years here, been through it all, the good times when all you touch turns to gold, the bad times when all the gold turned into glitter, and today, where the only thing turning is my stomach, its either the scotch from last night, or more pictures of the Marriott bombing in the papers.
The one thing the journalists of the world should agree on, is that.....(to be continued)
