Thanks for your encouraging responses to my journals. I've read yours, so far but, even though I'd liked to respond to some of them, I feel that might just become too much to keep up with.
So if you see me posting a it means I've read it and unsubscribed. Sorry. But, somewhat wiser from previous years of participating in NaJoPoMo, I've learnt that I can't possibly keep up with and respond to every journal.
And it's OK. I don't have to. And neither do you. Chill.

Ahahahaaa - and I had to go misspelling the subject line, didn't I?

Secretly I've been doing the same thing - if I have no comment to make, I'm signing and unsubbing.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one!

I just noticed that your researcher number has 6 digits, meaning you've been around for a good while. Odd that we haven't bumped into each other a lot more often.
Like you, I have no kids. It wasn't a conscious decision, it just wasn't my primary goal in life. If it happened, fine. If it didn't, fine.
Oddly enough, nobody has ever questioned it - except for a very inquisitive 8-year-old several years ago - but then, she asked me a *lot of questions, mostly followed by a 'why?'. Our conversation ended up with 'It doesn't matter, I like you anyway'
The only pressure I've ever felt to have kids was from my mother, who wanted to have grandchildren. Once my brother and his wife had their first child, the pressure was off.

I never had pressure from my mum but I realised when my brother had his daughter how disappointed mum was with my decision. But like with you, that changed with my brother's kids. I adore my niece & nephews but I'm so glad I can give them back.

'give them back' Exactly!
It's an aunt's prerogative to spoil her niece and nephew (mine are 13 and 10½) rotten, innit?

Ah, the other way around, actually - my niece is the younger one, that's why 'and a half' is so important to her.

I think we might have a lot in common. Have you ever visited Asteroid Lil's Atelier?

Someimes it's awfully busy, sometimes it's rather quiet. Most of us Salonistas are long time members though. The Atelier is the reason I started joining meetups in London (flying in from Sweden) to meet people I'd been conversing for years. I've made life-long friends there.
Lurk a while, if you wish - not all Salonistas post regularly.

You might well be right
I've never visited Lil's Atelier although I've seen it mentioned here and there. It looks interesting so I might well have a lurk (after November is over - no time for anything else other than journals this month!).
Thanks for the tip
