christy

I read a few chapters in my book, turn off the lights, and get into bed. Sometimes I find it hard to sleep. Sometimes I sit up and wonder. Sometimes I say those four magic words, “father, son, holy spirit.” Don’t get me wrong, I know that I don’t need to say this, but in order to feel normal, I do. I’ve been brainwashed into thinking that in order to contact “God” I must say this and make the sign of the cross, I must say a prayer. It doesn’t happen every night, but when it does I feel better, I can think better.
Let me set the story straight, right away. This isn’t me praying, I don’t know what is up there, this is me talking. It occurs to me that we just need someone to talk to, that our lives are so lonely that we would create this religion garble to protect our sanity. It’s easier to talk to no one than it is to talk to myself—I’m not crazy.
