Opti and I are friends in RL (though we met on h2g2) 
Actually thinking about it, h2g2 and my RL have leaked into each other quite a lot

yer i avoided work most the day...the wanders of flexi time, got my hours in and when to town at one pm. it was great fun....

I guess as they have to give the final verdict its a lot to deal with if you don't like being in charge

No, the jury give the verdict, the judge has to decide the sentence and mak sure that the trial is fair

Me too , we found the defendant not guilty on both counts butI still have to go to court tomorrow

cool so all change *shakes her head* thats the second stupid coment in ame number of minets; think i must still be suffering from the weekend, not sure which one
i dont have jury duty coz i'm a student but i expect they'll get me at some point

Oh, being a student is no reason to not be called, I was called to serve in January (i.e. while I was still a student) but I deferred to now as I'm sure you know I couldn't afford the time whilst at university, especially during the exams 
. If you get called whilst at university, they'll let you defer to the holidays, but you still have to serve. The odds are severly against you being called though, you have about a 50% chance of being called before you're 69

then why do some people get called all the time...one of my friends perents were called about once a year. my mums never been called.

It is completely random. If you're called within two years of your last service, you have the right to refuse
