Hi like I said in my introduction i'm not use to how these work and was wandering how i go about creating an entry about where i live coz i didnt come acros one using the seartch!
Hi from your ACE
TBC Posted Aug 2, 2003
all you do is click on the link "Add Entry" which you'll see on the sidebar on the left of your screen. Then you type in what you want to put in the entry and click "Preview" or "Add Guide Entry" depending on if you're finished or not. If you want to edit it after adding it then you just go to the entry and click "Edit Entry" which should be on the right hand side of the screen, next to where it says who wrote the entry.
To get the entry into the edited guide you need to put it through Peer Review. If you want to know more about that let me know and I'll explain it to you. Hope that helps.

Hello. I've only been here at h2g2 a week and I'm having a problem. My page has gone widescreen and I have to keep scrolling across. Is it something I've done ? Pamela

Ok, I've just been testing some stuff out and the problem is that the link you include is too long to fit on a line. However as it is a continues link (with no spaces) it lengthens the line creating your problem. What you need to do is put the link into Guide ML and then just have a link saying "Click Here" which is hyperlinked to the website.
You want to add this code to your space;
WHAT TEXT YOU WANT TO APPEAR ON YOUR SPACE GOES HERE
For instance on my space I link to a website called Nodwick.com and the uide ML for that is;
Nodwick.com
Hope that helps.

ok your first ? is after S right? well S stands for skin adn thats which skin you view h2g2 in. There are three different ones - Alabaster, Brunel and Classic Goo. To see them all you have to do is go to the "Preferences" tab on the left of the screen and see a drop down box labeled "Skin". You can select the different skins there (then click update user preferences to select it). The fourth skin mentioned is plain (if you are using a Digibox then this is the only one you can use). To get to that you need to change part of the web address. www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain that should take you to the front page in plain. So thats what the skins are about.
The small s is to do with Smiley usage. This is how many of the smileys you use in your messages. For the full smiley list go here; A155909
The V is for volunteer groups you might be a part of, the ACEs (which I am a member of) is an example. To find out about the groups click here; <./>volunteer</.>
PR is for PeerReview which is where you can look at articles which people are trying to get into the edited guide and comment on them.
p stands for The Post which is h2g2's newspaper. This can be found here; <./>Thepost</.>
a is for Ask h2g2 which is a place where you can ask questions etc. to the rest of the community, stuff not about h2g2. you can find out more by visiting <./>askh2g2</.>
nh is to do with nighthoover... if you want to know more then just search for nighthoover on h2g2 and you'll find out all you need to know...
finally the C is for soceties (like the spy society) that you are a part of. If you are a memeber of lots then you put down C+, whereas if you are not in any then you'd put down C-.
If you have any questions about that let me know.
As to living in berkshire I've lived here all my life... where did you live in it?
~Skenvoy
P.S. It'd be great to have more members to the spies.
