Been busy exploring the realms that are h2g2 and am completely hooked! Getting side-tracked every which way and finding loads of interesting threads and conversations to eaves-drop on!

Your links certainly are food for thought; if only I were clever enough to understand them! Although I don't mind this hot weather it doesn't help the concentration, so maybe I'll look at them again when my brain has cooled down and then can learn more about this bio-chemistry lark. I briefly studied (basic) nutrition at college, many moons ago, and find a lot of information has changed over the years. Is it a food marketing ploy?

I read you think you are not a "people person". What makes you say that? You appear to relate very well on the boards and have attracted a circle of followers. We all know we can rely on you for well-researched, intelligent advice and a spot of witty repartee when the occasion demands!

Hi Annie,

Years ago, when I was about 18, I worked for 1 day serving in a shop. I hated it. I had to deal with people and I wasn't very good at it.

Since then, I've had CB radio, marriage, a kid, divorce, and then karaoke. All of these things have made me more....what's the word?....gregarious? This, plus my eccentricities, is where I am today.

I still wouldn't become a nurse, but I guess I'm more of a people person now than I was.

P.S. I hope you're not all relying on me. I'm going on holiday on Aug 30th for a week (and getting my home PC repaired) so you'll have to fend for yourselves for a while.

My hubby is in retail. He always says shops would be alright without the customers! He tells me awful stories about what some of his customers do, and what they expect - nay, demand.

I try to always behave towards people I meet as I would hope to be treated. There is no superiority to be gained by arrogant, ignorant behaviour .

Sorry for the mini-rant - I know about working in shops, too! Not for me either.

I work with people though, and they can be very peculiar, rude, unpleasant, irrational and/or downright nasty. On the other hand most people I come into contact with are perfectly ordinary, pleasant folk who just want you to do what you're paid to do with regards to looking after them. I've met some pretty amazing people too, and they are the ones I prefer to remember!


So we'll have to live without you for a couple of weeks then? I guess you deserve break, the work you've been putting into the boards must seem like a second job for you! Moonlighting? No, hootooing, much more rewarding!

It's only seven days - you'll live! I'll be wondering what you lot are getting up to on the boards while I'm away. I hope nobody takes the opportunity to bash Atkins while I'm not around to give them a roasting. I'm getting my laptop repaired at the same time to kill two birds with one stone.

Weather was perfect! A spot of rain at the beginning and the end of the week, but just right the rest of the time. Nine days away and a lot has happened in the media (surprise, surprise!).
