Bonjour Monsieur (and NO you can't watch!!)
Sorry, was eavesdropping on your conversation with DianeB over on BigEric's page.
I was APPAULED to see from the N&F board that you don't weight train. I expect some very valid reasons for this, or else they'll be trouble!!!
;-p

Hi Ruth! Gosh, it's getting busy here. I think there's about the same number of carb eaters here as not. There's me, Eric & Ian vs you, Diane and Tree.
Reasons I don't weight train:-
1) I'm a lazy bastard.
2) See 1)
3) I've got a huge body. Just moving it around is like weight training already.
4) see 2)
There! I do have a rowing machine with pistons, but I don't use it very often.
Nige xXx
P.S. Anyone worked out how to do bold, italics and underlining here, yet?

Nigeepoo Posted Jul 23, 2003
Actually, I fibbed a bit about the weight training. When I'm over the G/F's, I do do some bicep curls with her son's 9.2kg dumbbell. I also do some squats sometimes, but not many.

I must say how shocking that is, but also how I'm secretly pleased that for once I can be self-righteous and all 'you know what you should do....'(insert itallics where appropriate)
I'm sure you must know the benefits of training with weights though, stop being a lazy bastard! I'm making an effort to eat more protein for god's sake (I even bought some bloody seeds) so I think it's only fair that you return the gesture and buy (and use!!) some weights.
Deal?

Nigeepoo Posted Jul 23, 2003
Well, if you put it like that...............Done!

Struth Ruth Posted Jul 23, 2003
Excellent!
I want reports and updates mind, as to what you've been up to!!
And while I have you here, how the hell do you make meat taste nice?!! I'm desperate to find a way of cooking the stuff so it's palatable. What are the best non-meat sources of protein? Remember that I can't eat eggs!

Quorn is bland and is available in chunks and mince. The chunks look like white chicken meat. The mince has brown colouring to make it look like minced beef. It's actually a mycoprotein ie. mushroom-based.
If you use soup mix, you can make the Quorn taste like whatever you want. Don't forget to add some olive oil, as Quorn is too low in fat.
I don't recommend soya mince, as it's high in phytic acid, which strips zinc out of your intestines, and it also contains phytoestrogens and trypsin inhibitors.
Hope that helps.
Nige.

sounds.....yummy?! (NOT!)
Someone told me the other day that Quorn has been linked to asthma. Have you heard that too?
this is my problem though, if you don't like the stuff that supposed to be good for you then what do you do? I've been eating quite a bit of chicken of late, but I do have to slather it in various sauces so that I can stomach it.
thanks for the tip though!!

Sorry for the late reply - I couldn't log in to h2g2 when I got home.
I thought you liked vegetable soup. Adding Quorn to it won't affect the flavour of the soup much but will add valuable protein.
The only possible problem with Quorn is that it contains albumin - egg white, as a binder. Are you allergic to egg white?
I haven't seen/heard any links between Quorn and asthma, but then I haven't really looked.
Certainly trans fats can cause asthma by substituting themselves for palmitic acid in dipalmitoyl phophatidylcholine, the stuff lungs are coated in.
If slathering stuff in sauces allows you to eat it, keep on slathering!
ta-ta for now.

No worries! It's hard to keep up with all the various message boards, and I'm supposed to be working too...!
I do like veggie soup so I'll try adding a bit of Quorn to it!
Away from the watchfull eyes of the NF Board, how annoying is Mary Bellamy?? She posts these blatantly argumentative posts and then when you post back in a similar tone she's all like 'you're being rude, when I'm just being friendly'
I can tolerate a lot of the rubbish that goes on that board but I wish people wouldn't pretend to be all offended by things. BigE came back briefly but has been bullied off the board again.
What is it about that board that gets people so het up??! You said that there are other boards you go on as well - are they like that too?

Nigeepoo Posted Jul 24, 2003
Watch out, Mary may be reading these messages, too. I've just replied to your post on the MB.
Argumentative, eh? Pot, Kettle, Black - there's a saying in there, somewhere!
Love, Nige xXx

Oh, I couldn't care less!!
I certainly won't deny that I can be as argumentative as the next person, what I cannot abide though is when people like Mary post in an argumentative tone, then when they get responses back in a similar tone they get all 'oh you're being sooo rude, I'm like, so offended'
Can you swear on H2G2? I feel the need to....
by the way, nice of you to point everyone in the direction of your page here - I'm trying to have a good bitch about people behind their backs and you're really spoiling it!! ;-p

Go on, give it a try. You need to see just how heavily moderated this place is.
Once I discovered that I could mention this page over there, I now shamelessly plug it for all it's worth at every available opportunity.
See ya, Nige xXx

Hi Nige and Ruth, thought i would pop by to say Hi. I have to agree with you about Mary she really gets my back up! There is no need for her to slag people off and argue like she does. What's her problem???I complained about one of her posts and it got removed! he he he he that will teach her! And i will not hessitate to do it agin if she makes rude remarks, so even if i don't post on the board chicks i still read them. Despite what eating plan any of us are on we can all act like grown ups and be there for each other for support and help. Thats what she needs to do a bit of growing up! Ruth if you want to look into my space just click my name on top of this message honey. Take care speak soon Diane xx p.s. sorry i have a big gob has Ian been on here and if so can you put me in touch. Thanks x

Hi Di! I never realised you could get to a person's space by clicking on their name. Ruth, click on your name and see what happens!
I've had my wings clipped by the mods over there. As of Sunday 27th July, I'm not allowed to mention this place there anymore.
When I got home from work yesterday, I had a pile of e-mails from the BBC, with a friendly warning to not mention h2g2 on the Health board again. Hey-ho! Such is life. I expect they got fed up with me directing all and sundry here.
Ta-ta for now,
Nige xXx

Nigeepoo Posted Jul 29, 2003
If you look in your personal space, just below MY JOURNALS, you should see MY FRIENDS and "This is where your list of friends will appear. To add someone to your friends list, go to their Personal Space and click on 'Add to Friends'."
I've not used this, yet. Is it like a "buddy" list so you can get to their personal space quickly?
