Question re Young Researchers Club
Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ... Started conversation Oct 17, 2005
Hi Kat,
I just referred a new researcher to the Young Researchers Club (she's 12) and, on checking the page, I found a number of "I want to join" threads that don't seem to have a response.
Your name is on the page as the originator so I came to you
The Club is a great idea but unless someone responds we will lose these young researchers - can you suggest who to contact? Is there someone designated as a welcomer?
Thanks
Feisor

Ah yes this has been a problem lately. The Young Researchers' Club has been inactive for a number of months, and whilst I definitely have plans to rejuvenate it, these plans haven't yet been put into action. I did try to pep it up a while back but people weren't really interested.
However, certainly over the Christmas holidays at least, I'm going to redesign the page, relaunch the place and hopefully get it back in gear. I'll go and explain this to the poor newbie kids too
The page was originally under another editor, which is why it's been a bit dead for a while. I only recently volunteered to take it over and haven't had much time since then. But it'll happen I promise!

I posted a question to the ACEs forum - it might get some action.
If it does, I'll refer them to you - ok?

I've given the place a make-over!

What do you think?
My main problem is that none of the old skool kids are still on H2G2 So I'll be building it all up from scratch again.
Once I've heard from any researchers who are still around I'll be chucking announcements in The Post, on the ACE pages etc etc. So do keep referring

As I said in another thread - GREAT JOB!!
But I just had an idea - what about involving some of the kids and eventually grooming a few to become like co-editors, welcomers or scouts for the club. Sort of like Junior ACEs
This would
a) take a bit of the pressure off you and
b) make them feel more involved
Just a suggestion .....
In case no one else mentions it - Thank You for doing this, it really is a valuable contribution.

I am definitely hoping to be able to do that in the very close future. I'd like to get to know the kids a bit first as I only know EMR properly. I think it would be good to involve them more because then they'll be more inclined to stay...I hope?
Now all I have to do is actually FIND all these kids!!

I posted my previous post on the ACE forum with a link to the page - and you have let the ACEs know that the club exists
The Post would be a great place to advertise it - and they could put it on their links page.
I am sure that it will grow quickly enough
