I was never a great fan of Rumpole of the old bailey,i prefer comedy drama and our legal system is laughable

speaking of legal messes, how about our O.J. trial several years ago or the sad fact that people know more about our legal system from watching television than actual real court cases.
We have almost half a dozen "real" court type shows with entertainer/judges or judges that entertain us (I'm not sure just which is which) Most of these shows use former judges who have been picked because they have some marketable quality about them. They make far more money pretending to be judges than they ever made making judicial rulings, how laughable is that?
For entertainment how about Benny Hill, or Fawlty Towers, Are you Being served? That's entertainment. (and of course when hootoo was on the tele OH so sort it was)

Well thats America for ya,they like to glamorize everything don't they? I heard they was going to make a film about 9/11 how sad is that!
Yeah i know Benny Hill went down a treat in the US,can't say i like that sort of humour, apart from the little bald fella Fawlty Towers was brilliant, but just don't mention the war
I don't know what hootoo was!
What about Only fools and Horses, Morecambe and Wise,Dads Army, have you seen any of those? Its great you share our humour

Tonight was the first of the many "two towers" specials a long (three hours)documentary on the history channel. (I didn't watch)
I expect to watch only those items I cannot turn off, turn away from, or change the channel. I've seen enough and I dont care to see any other "directors" making more money off of this tragedy.
As far as Benny Hill, his show may have reached the acceptability limit for us colonials.
I of course saw the Monty Python's Flying circus, plus all of the specials, and the concerts and the movies. If there is any franchise from British tele that has made more of a mark here I dont know about it (of course I dont know about Masterpiece theater too highbrow for me). Possibly the one source of humor from Great Britain that could have eclipsed H2G2.
Two of the non-Python movies though (made with them of course) were Brazil (Terry Graham) and Time Bandits. Both on my list of greatest movies.

Its like when Princess Diana died, they were still 'milking' it 3 years on.
The day after 9/11 i was flying out to spain and for the 1st time in my life i had a panic attack as soon as i boarded the plane!
I never saw Time Bandits or Brazil,i seen all the rest of there work.

Both of those movies were made in the eighties (yes that's a long time ago) but they are great movies not just good ones and available in video rentals.
There are others such as Myra Breckinridge that will never be released (to video) because of the stars that made them are so embarrased. Gore Vidal Wrote the book Myra Breckinridge (and the follow up called Myron), Rachel Welsh starred John Huston, Mae West, Tom Selleck, and a couple of others were in it and will prevent it's distribution. It seems to have a cult following but there are no copies.

I'll keep an eye out for the videos then.
As for Myra Breckinridge,i haven't a clue who she is
I watched Reservoir Dogs earlier,a gory film but i like Harvey Keltal,Michael Madsen and Tim Roth, great actors but my favourite actors are Robert de Nero and Marlon Brando they are so good at being bad

Myra was rated X but was so funny that it became a cult favorite. The book is certainly available to read Gore Vidal wrote it. No it is not pornographic, although it could be called sexually challenging...yeah that's a properly descriptive term. Maybe why it never made it to video. Rachel Welch plays a Transexual (yes thats who you think it is) with an attitude. need I say more.
Brazil is about some future/past and how societ deals with bureaucracy. Robert de Nero plays a heating engineer and a revolutionary. There are also two of the Python players in it.

Sounds interesting,we have a large selection of books on sale in our shop, old and new,so i'll have a look through.I saw a similar film about a man who was supposed to be transexual and your led to believe that he was, right up until the end of the film,i can't think of the name of it,its about an irish man,who is wrongly accused of having connections with the IRA and so he flees his homeland and goes to london, where he gets involved with the transexual..
I can't think of the name of the film
Key: Complain about this post
