Thanks for the message on my h2g2 page
IT life is just the same here in the UK, far too many people have been encouraged to study computers and now with the companies cutting back budgets there is less work and more people !!
Funny you mentioned you will be studying history, that was something I looked at ! Cool that you got to work on the shuttle, I got tour the space center at Houston and Johnson (sp?) and was lucky to see a shuttle on the launch pad but missed the launch (bad weather )
Where in the states are you ?

Well originally I lived in California, but I now live in Oregon all told I have lived in 5 states traveled in 41 others, 5 provinces of Canada, 3 states of Mexico, Traveled to Europe 3 times, lived in Saudi Arabia for a year (on contract) and a week in India.
My study in history is to discover the things that help people to change. I study the period of time from the Napoleanic wars to the beginning of the American civil war, a time of great change in "Western Society."
There was a great deal of people that actively sought to change other people because they felt for some reason they saw the need. In America this included the anti-slavery movement, the women's sufferage movement, the anti-alcohol movement, the labor movement, and even the anti-tobacco movement. Issues that we are still dealing with 140 years later. No easy solutions here.
