That sounds like what my mother used to have and called "sick headaches". I've had it a few times, too. They're not quite migraine. The pain of retching and vomiting with a piercing headache (it's not a throbbing kind, it's a sharp kind of pain - am I right?) is EXCRUCIATING. It DEFIES DESCRIPTION.
Whoops - sorry for shouting. They ought to make us a font for posts to people with headaches and hangovers.

You are right, TC, it really defies description. But it is what I imagine people with migraines suffer from.
I really hope this one was food related, having this once a month or so doesn't bear thinking of.

Hello B'El Hope you're soon feeling better.
I've just started an enforced 14 days off w*rk having just had to have an op. to re-attach a retina, yesterday. I've explained about this on the WJH thread.
I'm feeling a bit frustrated at present as I derive a lot of my entertainment visually - reading the newspaper, reading books, using the PC, but I can't really do anything. I can barely see to type this. I have to spend 50 minutes of each waking hour in a 'head-up position, so I am mainly sitting up in bed listening to Radio 4. I do a lot of that anyway fortunately (listemng to the radio!!)
It's sunny outside - but not warm though, so I keep hankering to go outside. However the glare causes my operated eye to suffer some discomfort, even though I try to keep it clo9sed and I'm wearing dark glasses.

Good grief Big Al, that sounds nasty.
I really hope the OP was successful. I'd be lost without my eyesight.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Bel. What a drag using time off work to be sick, instead of goofing off.
BigAl, I hope your eye heals quickly and well.

It's my day off anyway, PC. Last time it happened, I had to call my boss to tell him I'd not be able to come to work.
I'd rather feel well and go to work, though.

Ouch, sorry to hear this. If you feel better tomorrow, don't tell your boss, but take that day off too.

Now there's a thought.
I can't not go if I feel well enough, there'd be too much work for my colleagues.

You're far too nice, you know?
Would they be as nice? If they would, then ok, but if they'd take the day off, what the heck?

They'd all be the same. And anyway, if I find that I'm not well enough after all, I can still go home again.

Sorry to hear you haven't been well, B'El (please forgive the rhyme - no facetiousnerss intended) and I hope you're feeling better by now.
But - not being well - you produced a classic Alice In Wonderland Mad Riddle:
"Can you get bouts of migraine at my age - when you've never had migraine in your life? "
Yay!!! Well done, B'El!
