Such a shame you didn't get to see your family. But then I know that sons are always busy (although mine do make time for me if possible).
I nearly forgot about Guy Fawkes Day. There's still nearly all of November left after the 5th, though.

Interesting question but my hasty answer would be.
James youngest daughter would have been made a puppet queen, civil war would have broken out within 3 months there would have been slaughter of all catholics.
The Royalist cause would have won in approximately 18 months, followed by mass executions of the losing side. There may have been war with France certainly aggression in their overseas settlements.
But the English Civil War would not have happened.

The possibilities are endless.
I read a (fantasy) book the other day, where the Alexandrian Library was not lost, and what ensued then. Now there was a fascinating idea, and one that makes you feel glad the library never survived.
