Hi popa, I haven't had a look at the new puzzles yet - all those other things on here and family kept me busy, but I'll definately have a look
I'm fine, thanks. Gotta prepare supper now
Puzzle 6

Hi Claudia, I'm sorry I missed you earlier, I was struggling with EE9
Of all the people that I chat to on HooToo (that's not actually very many) I thought you might be the one that saw through puzzle 6 because your English is likely to be more literal than someone that speaks English as a first language.
But to answer your question, all the facts you need are in the question. The whole point is that it's hardly a maths question at all.
Popa.

Hi George, sorry to disappoint you, but I still have no clue. You said, you were lokking for a sum, not a formula, and it's not mathematical a question so it can't be 1+x - I'll keep thinking about it.

Claudia, you didn't mention whether you looked at Puzzle 5 or not. There is a clue in there if you read it carefully and compare it to the wording of Puzzle 6.

Thank you Claudia, I enjoyed EE's competition, it took up a lot of time but I found I couldn't put it down.

Hello popa, I'm stilltrying to find a solution to your puzzle
Must go and now, work tomorrow.
See you later

Hi Claudia...
Icy is also stuck with regard to Puzzle 6, I'll give you the next clue first... I might say that it should help to be pedantic with the meaning of each word in the puzzle. Have you noticed that I asked a similar Q in P5, but used a different word ?

aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Mar 14, 2005
You hinted at that earlier already, I'll have to go back and read the questions again. Thanks for the clue, it's appreciated
How are you, very busy ? I know who will solve the anagrams now - and I'll read them and will think

Hi popa, thanks for explaining the terahertz/teraflops
I'm sorry, but I'm about to go to now, and as we'll have a new telephone and internet provider from tomorrow on, I have no idea when I'll be back online, so keep the threads going
Goodnight

Hi popa, as you have seen, I was back the next day
I'm still not getting the solution to your puzzle, although I'm convinced it's a simple and logic one - but I have no idea
If I think of it, I'll ask my mother-in-law when we breakfast together tomorrow, maybe she knows the answer - or don't you think it can be translated ?
See you around

Hi Claudia,
I suspect if you could translate it, you'd have the answer by now.
You may like to see if you can find the difference between, between and among. (or amongst)

aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Mar 20, 2005
Hmmm, interesting, there is a different word for those in German, I think between is 'zwischen' and among is 'unter', but I'm still too stupid to see what you're trying to tell me

Hi Claudia,
My knowledge of the German language is virtually nil, BUT... dosn't zwi (or, I thought, zwei) translate as two ?
Chatter
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted Mar 21, 2005
Yes, two is zwei, and zwischen probably derives from something like zwei, but, blieve it or not - the dictionaries giving me an explanation for the root of a word are my Collins Concise, and my 'Petit Robert', but the Duden doesn't tell me anything - I looked into several editions, very old, old and newer ones - nothing, so I can only guess.

Hi Claudia,
Thank you for asking, I've been a bit more tied up than I would like recently, but otherwise I'm fine. I do look in from time to time when I can, but I kept getting annoyed by all Artie's sniping and unsubscribed from all the anagram threads some few weeks ago. He can get along without me and I don't need the agro.
I still monitor the cryptic thread but don't contribute at the moment because I don't get the time to check the answers as often as it would require
I trust you're well and are keeping entertained by HooToo
Fond regards... George.

Hi George,
nice to hear from you. I've stopped watching the cryptic clues thread as it's way too difficult for me, but I still do the anagrams and linkword now and then. There are a few more wordgames though, you'll find most of them if you go to the Apage I mention in my name tag, or have a look through my conversations - if you are patient enough to work your way through all the convos, that is
Hope you'll stay in touch if RL admits it
Claudia
