Awww, thank you.
To be honest, I thought it was a very banal post, not worth being QotD, and absolutely unexpected, too.

I like witty banal. Its like oil to our language - without it it is too dry.

Yes, maybe you're right. I guess it's often the case that we ourselves don't feel something we said was particularly witty, but others do. A bit like with my last telegram in the telegram game - I was surprised it got so many votes.

Its like cliches and idioms, they are banal, but they make a form of shorthand so it improves the flow of communication, well most of the time.

I've lurked on some threads and to be honest - some are from another planet. Either 'barking mad' or so fixated it becomes just a slugging match - hardly a conversation and certainly not going to be enjoyable or edifying.

There are some conversations I unsubscribe the very moment certain people post there. I really can't be bothered to read their spiteful drivel, or deal with them being offended by another opinion.

I have found there also some researchers with multiple personas who seem bent on spoiling. Still everyone else is fantastic and this site is quite amazing at times.

There'S one researcher with up to 20 accounts, that's quite unnerving, especially for those who don't know they all belong to the same researcher. I tend to ignore them completely and unsubscribe from threads she's in.
On the whole, it's a great comminity, though, and I'm glad I found it all these years ago.
You intend to go to the London meet in October I think?
I would love to go, but finances are tight right now, so I'll stay at home.

I shall go - I've been to London more times this year than the last 20 or so. I going to have to go now - some say there is more to life than Hootoo. Catch up later.

Oh dear! I've just booked another London thing - I can't keep up with my self.
How are you today?

I wish I could go to London several times a year.
Although I guess you're going there on business, not for leisure.
I'm ok, just finished writing my next article for
How are you?

Sorry, been busy. London well pleasure, as I'm retired. I had only visited a couple of times for pleasure up till this year now its 3 times this year and again next March.
I'm fine tho' my wife has been a bit under the weather. There we are a nice little idiom.

Been to the Doc and it was just a recurrence of a bug which has passed now. She was getting a bit gittery with a wedding, her son, coming up this Saturday and we are away for two weeks on Sunday. We're going foreign - Isle of Wight.
