Insurance
Posted Jun 12, 2003
This is great. Today I had a letter telling me that my car insurance has been cancelled because I haven't been paying. I wouldn't know about this because I'm allergic to bank statements. In any case, the last conversation I had with my brokers was along these lines:
ME: Can you use my previous direct debit and change the details so I don't have to bother with the paperwork?
THEM*: Yes sir, that will be no problem at all.
ME: And suppose it suddenly becomes a problem?
THEM: It won't be, but if it is we will contact you and get it all sorted out, sir.
ME: Thats very nice. Goodbye.
Well, somewhere along the line it became a problem. Apparently they tried to call me at my home when I obviously would be at work. Having failed to get through to me (or leave a message) they cancelled my insurance. Today I've had to pay a cancellation charge and they wouldn't even let me carry on with my policy. I had to start another policy and pay a full deposit all over again! I'm broke - no more lager for me! What I want to know is who is going to protect me from these insurers? I need insurance insurance.
*I call my insurers "THEM" because I am convinced the place is run by giant ants.

Lager
Posted Jun 11, 2003
Today I've had a bit of a shock. I'm a lager drinker. I didn't used to be. As an easily influenced fresh faced seventeen year old, I was growled at by a man at the public bar of the Rose Of Mossley for ordering a pint of lager. He told me it was a woman's drink. So I had mild instead. Ever since then I've prided myself on my CAMRA ideals. But just recently I've been drinking more and more lager. I now cannot escape the fact that I am officially a lager drinker. I am a traitor unto myself.
