CALIFORNIA BLONDE STUCK IN HOUSTON HELL Posted Jun 12, 2003
My parents retired and moved to Houston (my father's retirement job)and at the time my ex-husband got a promotion but had to move here Him and my parents ganged up on me to move here, we weren't married at the time so basically my parents held off finances until I moved (still in college at the time). I haven't moved back because my house that cost me $160,000 here would cost me about $1,000,000 there!
The thing I hate the most about Houston is that a lot of the people here are very narrow minded. There are also still a lot of guys who still think it's the wild wild west times You see a lot of people in big cowboy hats, snake skin boots, driving big pick-up trucks and two stepping to country music. I HATE COUNTRY MUSIC!
The plus side is I am close to New Orleans! which is my favorite place to spend anytime off I have. Oh and every Mardi Gras it's a must!

Hello there honey, and thankyou kindly for replying back to my message i sent you! Thanks for letting me know why you ended up where you are in Houston! But if you are old enough to(pressumably!)why not re-locate somewhere else??Suppose you could save up the money to!(just a suggestion that's all all sweet!)Seeing as you don't like where you are all that much. How about New Orleans(seeing as you like the place so much!)Think it would do my head in,seeing those people in their cowboy hats and their snake kin boots! No wonder why you tire of living there!lol. But i do so hope you'll end up somewhere where you feel more happiest!Anyway babes, will write off for now.You ever wanna talk again, please don't forget to get in touch you hear??Takecare and look after yourself also.Best wishes,Sean, rose>

But the reason I stay is the cost of living! My house here is worth about $200 - 250,000 here in California it would be worth over $1,000,000 and in New Orleans it would be around $600,000. Houston has a better economy than most large cities, plus the company I work for is based out of Houston which means better chance to advance.
I love New Orleans but I could never live there! It is just as hot and humid as Houston in fact I think the summers are worse. Louisiana is also totally different than any other U.S. state, they have Napoleonic laws leftover from when they were a french colony. Most companies won't go in Louisiana because of it espeically banks. The only banks there are banks that only operate in Louisiana. It's different I have friends from there.
Basically I stay because I want a big house (mine actually looks like it belongs in New Oreleans) and I want to have more.I am some what materialistic, so shoot me!

Oh another reason not to live in New Orleans is the fact it is below sea level and floods all the time. Did you know that if you bury some in the ground that their bodies will float back up? That's why everyone is burried crypts or above ground tombs and you will never see a home with basement.
