I suggest nothing. I'm sure your taste in additional decoration is exquisite smiley - evilgrin. I'm merely stating that I prefer my decor the way it is smiley - winkeye

My parents live in Marlow, my sister in Hindhead so that's fairly South.

I've sometimes said the South starts at Gateshead, but I'm sure Teesside can count as Northerly... smiley - smileysmiley - biggrin

I completely forgot - you already told me Marlow - now there's posh! Surrey too smiley - smiley

Teesside???

No worries: I forget my own words too smiley - winkeye

Is that not the expression?

Long ago, in the mists of time near the beginning of this conversation you mentioned overlooking the Tees, which perhaps foolishly, I took to mean that you live in Teesside. Have you moved permanently to the Midlands or is your eyesight a lot better that I gave you credit for? smiley - biggrin

I distinctly remember saying that I DON'T live on Teesside!

You seem to be particularly acerbic at the moment - is it something to do with the blood letting?

In fact, I have erected the pygmy tree - the tub in which it resides is almost as tall and as wide as the tree. Being a little short (comparatively speaking) I thought I'd try it on an occasional table (remember the tub is filled with gravel as well as tree complete with lights and decorations AND crackers). I manhandled it onto the table (b***** ridiculous I thought) and manhandled it back onto the floor. I should add that into this equation there is also a tin tray ( which you no doubt would consider tasteless) that goes underneath the aforementioned tub and which also had to be manhandled.
The dog was no help at all...in fact she seemed to think that the gravel filling was some sort of game in which she could join!
Do people in Marlow not have tat then?

Oops, smiley - sorry

I hope not: I'm doing it again on Monday smiley - winkeye
It's probably just frustration because the Christmas break isn't here yet. smiley - sorry again if you feel I'm taking it out on you, it's not intentional, honest!

The tree sounds like quite a struggle: good weight training at least. I've always wondered about occasional tables: what are they the rest of the time? smiley - groansmiley - groan

Marlow is full of tat, some of it kitsch, but being the Southeast, all of it expensive smiley - winkeye

Don't take the tat bit to heart: you're speaking (OK typing) to a man who has paid good money to see the "Prisoner: Cell Block H" stage show, after all. (If you are going to indulge in crap, do it properly, I say) smiley - winkeye

LOL

In addition to going to a Sci-Fi convention??? There is no hope for you!

I forgot to say, the tree is also as wide as it is tall (at the bottom at least). I feel someone should have been videoing all of this so that I could win £250!

Well I was beginning to wonder.... smiley - biggrin

Just a couple more days until I'm off for the festive season.

We're just waiting for the boss to come back and distribute the Secret Santa rezzies from the bran tub at the moment....

LOL

Now leave that mistletoe alone! I'm not overly fond of that Secret Santa malarky - someone introduced it at work last Christmas but instead of everyone putting something in and taking pot luck, you were given the name of the person you were giving to and THEN, they 'arranged' that as well. The only trouble was, I was given the name of a member of my staff for whom I'd already bought a gift - so then I had to think of TWO!
Never again!
Are you saying you're off on Monday and Tuesday too?

Yup, after today, I'm off until January 5th.

In our bran tub, you knew who you were buying for: you picked the name out of the hat. That way tends to work pretty well.

What's the matter with smiley - mistletoe?

Well I haven't harvested it with a golden sickle, but apart from that...

I'm sure I will, same to you (if fit girls are what you're into: feel free to substitute appropriate object(s) of desire if not smiley - evilgrin)

I'm sure I will: virtually at least smiley - smiley

The niece and nephew seemed to like their presents OK: I wound up giving a spare as the "Bop Extreme 2" seemed. on reflection, a tad advanced for a two-year-old; but it kept his parents amused for hours smiley - smiley

Happy New Year!
Literally just got back this afternoon so spent the last three hours taking my Christmas decorations down smiley - smiley
I got one of those for my eldest son - he seemed pleased smiley - smiley
Got my new car yesterday so mobile again although it was rather a steep learning curve driving from the West Midlands in today's weather!

Well there's a coincidence: when I first got a car, my first journey was from the dealer in Birmingham to Newcastle.

Not at all!
I HATE buying a car - prefer buying a house to a car any day!
Spending today tidying - again, taking the dog out, and bathing her - and, generally chilling out - I need a rest!
And you? Well it IS Friday!!

Yea, estate agents haven't quite plumbed the depths occupied by car dealers; then again, at least you don't have lawyers involved in buying cars... smiley - winkeye

Not a lot going on here at the moment: before I can do things, other people need to do other things; so it's the usual "hurry up and wait..."
