I am sorry to say that i cannot give you any of the tips you are looking for, suffice to say that i am in the same sort of boat, computers came into my life about 4 years ago, maybe 5, and i just seem to stumble along with them rather than really knowing what i do...I have a feeling that may be terrible english!!.

However, i thought i would drop by and say hi, with an offer to converse along the way. Hope you don't mind.

No problem...I actually find myself being asked for advice re computers lol and trying to give it

In fact, I have had a computer person reply who has made a suggestion which I will try out when I have time. In my experience though, IT boffins usually have minions to sort out the real techie stuff (He'll be mad if he reads that!)

I'm surprised you can use the Internet where you are...an assumption there that you really are in darkest Africa lol

At present i am in Surrey, however i do reside in South Africa normally, just north of Johannesburg.
I am in the land of my ancestors for a few months or so to do some studying, spend some time with family and generally because i felt i needed a change for a while.
However, computers are spreading ...it is possible in many parts of the bush these days to be able to log on, i have sat on a rocky kopjie before now overlooking the Limpopo and chatted with folk in America and England.
