HOw are things going?
ANy plans for San Isidro?
I´m still with my mala pata but I hope it won´t last for longer.
Í can´t work but I´m studying Magisterio in La Salle, an online course of two years. They have "convalidado" all the English subjects.
Nice to see you again
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 4, 2009
Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, Mar. I've been suffering from lumbago (short 'u', long 'a' in English ) and left my bed solely to watch Rafa (Nadal) win in Rome. What a great sportsman he is, and such a hell-of-a-nice guy!
We were in the Alpujarra de Granada a few weeks ago, and I managed to injure myself on the second day of an eight-day holiday - I spent the rest of the time confined to bed.
The Wiki article on lumbago (yes, we really do pronounce it that way) mentions medical cannabis as a possible treatment. Since I'm not too keen on taking so many powerful analgesics, muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatories, I think I'll discuss it with my GP..... just to see his reaction .
Your injured leg must have been far more traumatic and the effects much longer lasting - under the circumstances, your online persona is remarkably cheerful. I know how demoralising it is for a normally active person to be struck by injury or ill health. Do you expect to recover fully?
We'll be visiting London right in the middle of San Isidro week, so we'll miss most of the festival. Are you able to go out much?
Anyway, time to refill my hot-water bottle and lie down for a while.
Hi
Maria Posted May 4, 2009
Hi man, pobrecito! lumbago is really painful! And a pity it happened during your holidays.
I´m confined to be at home too, I can´t walk, nor stand up for longer, so I stay at home most of the time. H2 helps my mind to be amused. That´s the only "social life" I have had for a year.
I don´t know when this will end. I´ve had recently another operation(the 5th!) and feel pain. It´s a wound that doesn´t heal properly, consequence of the first operation when they sew my tendon. Which is ok.
The cannabis medication has worked for me. I´ve been taking it during this year. I used to have it only for "recreational" purposes and not much really, once a week, but now is almost on a daily basis since a year ago. I also have nolotil,(metamizol) but cannabis works better.
For pain and to disconnect a bit from "soul pain".
I hope you can enjoy las ALpujarras in another occasion, it´s a beautiful place indeed. It´s a lot of time I don´t go there. The last time we went on motorbike around many villages. It was great.
To London? you are a fortunate man.
Take care my friend
PS: I like the titles of songs you propose, are they what first come to your mind or do you choose them? I like JJ Cale, some others you post I don´t know, but if they are your choices, I think I should try them. You have good taste
Did you seen the Australian Pink Floyd? they played recently in Madrid. G. went to see them and was fascinated.
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 4, 2009
Hi Mar
This computer is misbehaving (running very slowly), so I'll have to do a check for bugs. I'll respond asap.
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 5, 2009
Apart from the discomfort, being ill/injured is such a waste of time - not to mention the strain on our partners. It also sends our fitness levels back to zero... another reason to feel depressed. So, pobrecita, I admire your positive attitude.
I'd be interested to know how you take (toke?) your cannabis - not that my doctor would even consider prescribing it for me. He is the kind to send me away with a stack of prescriptions for drugs of a far more damaging nature than Maryjane.
I agree that Nolotil isn't strong enough to block severe pain - the doc has me on Tramadol; extract from Wiki:
"Tramadol is used to treat post-operative, injury-related, and chronic (e.g. cancer-related) pain in dogs and cats [4] as well as rabbits, coatis, many small mammals including rats and flying squirrels, guinea pigs, ferrets and raccoons."
I've been going to the Alpujarra once or twice a year since I first arrived in Spain (to live) 13 years ago, so I know the area quite well. Sole's parents spend several months of the year in Orgiva where they rent a small flat. Have you been to Cañar?
[Incidentally, this is Spanish (naughty girl): "It´s a lot of time I don´t go there." = 'It's a long time since I went there.' or, more naturally, 'I haven't been there for ages.']
I've only fairly recently joined the song title thread. I usually try to remember a song I like that fits. If nothing occurs to me, I wander over to scour the few tapes and CDs I have here (90% of my collection sits in my dad's damp garage in London - mostly albums).
Australian Pink Floyd? Are you kidding?! I lived in Oz (God's own country) from the mid 1970s to the early 1980s, and enjoyed a lot of the locally produced music. I was particularly impressed by Renée Geyer, and wanted to post 'Ready to Deal' after someone had posted 'From a Jack to a King'... until I remembered that 'Ready to Deal' is the name of an album (not a song). A free sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeMt3PPcnHs&feature=related
I'm rambling.
Wishing you well.
Paul
Hi
Maria Posted May 5, 2009
Hi Paul,
I hope not to get a "badge" for having a few posts removed. I´ve god a few because they were "sexually explicit" and the last one... well it was for talking about the therapeutical uses of cannabis. What a reputation!
So, let´s move on and forget about Lady Mary Jane.
YOu can google "farmacology" of the plant. Or if you want, I´ll give my mail to you for "further information" tutokaya66 arroba gmail dot com.
YOur doctor can only prescribe the only two legal cannabinoids: Cannabidiol and Cannabicromeno.
I laughed at the tramadol prescriptions for small mammals, really funny. And wondered how is your physical appearance
And enjoyed that song. I´ll get it
Rambling? YOu can ramble as much as you want. I love it!
well, I think this song fits now in this post:

take care
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 5, 2009
So, I'm involved with a shady lady, eh?
Actually, It was I who pressed you for more details, and so the responsibility for the (further ) besmirching of your good name is mine . I'm disappointed too to learn that discussion about the medicinal use of cannabis is verbotten here (on the other hand, I have no idea what you might have said... ).
Great choice of music, by the way!
My favourite Renée Geyer album, 'Really Really Love You', is a recording of her amazing performance at The Dallas Brooks Hall, in 1976. I haven't checked to see if it's still available, but you'll find the album, track listings, etc by clicking on 'discography' here: http://www.reneegeyer.com.au/

Hi
Maria Posted May 6, 2009
hi,
nothing to be sorry. I know that my explicitness sometimes doesn´t match the rules of this house, which doesn´t make me feel too much worried. It´s a question of point of views.
Maybe it was my "casual" way of explaining my relationship with the medicin the reason why it was removed. I was "condoning an illegal activity"
I´m straitfoward, you´re not guilty of that. Sometimes I forget that rules here are stricter than I wish. I guess the mods must be very careful with some topics to avoid problems.
I knew you´d like Ian Dury. btw, Reasons to be Cheerful is a good one to keep it now in our minds. How is your back?? pobrecito
wish you well
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 7, 2009
Okay, so I had a bit of a relapse and lost some sleep, but I'm on the mend now...... so you can stop calling me 'pobrecito' .
I am interested to know how you came to hurt yourself so badly, and what the prognosis is.
I have to decline your perfectly reasonable request to describe my appearance (beyond saying that I look about 20 years younger than my age): if I was to post a photograph here, I'd be bound to attract stalkers - you know what hootoo ladies are like! Sometimes, good looks are a curse, don't you agree?
Keep smiling!
Hi
Maria Posted May 7, 2009
You´re funny Paul.
Send a picture! I promise not to stalk. I´ll try to refrain
How dit it happen? well, unlike you with your lumbago, I wasn´t practising any kamasutra posture when it happened
Well, you only know the first chapter of the story, I broke my achilles tendon -I talked about it in the Spanish Speaking thread- It´s ok now but they provoqued an infection. That´s the problem. I hope it will heal soon . I try to keep my mood stoic, no desperate nor too much hopeful, just expectant. Sometimes I fail, but I force myself to overcome it.
Yes, I´ll keep on smiling,
you too, guapetón!
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 7, 2009
"Guapetón" That's more like it!
I don't know whether you saw this link on the song title thread: http://tinyurl.com/chzrxl - It's another track from 'Ready to Deal'.
Don't take it personally, though: we're just good friends, okay.
Hi
Maria Posted May 7, 2009
Yes, I saw it.
not personally? what a pity, I´ll cancel then the tickets I had booked to have a romantic trip.
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 7, 2009
They're playing our song on the song title thread: http://tinyurl.com/cgs3jh
Hi
Maria Posted May 7, 2009
yyeesss! Good stuff
I´ve just posted in Short shorts a piece ( I think it´s funny) see it in my PS, if te apetece.
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 7, 2009
You'll probably have to explain it to me..... maybe tomorrow. It reads really well, though.
ps Sorry about the (I like doing that) - quite a change of mood, eh?
Hi
Maria Posted May 8, 2009
If I have to explain it , then it means that it was a bit criptic. Too many asumptions asked to the reader. But if you know who is Robert Burton, it adds some meaning
But, forget about it.
I sometimes like to play with words in Jab´s threads. It´s funny. I have not "artistic" intention. But, as English it´s not my language, I love to receive feedback-how it feels in your ear and in your mouth-be a translation of a spanish poem (I do that sometimes too) or a "poem" or a "short".
I call myself poetaster. You can see in that word my aspirations to "literary glory"
Hi
Rudest Elf Posted May 8, 2009
Hi
I just wanted to say that the first line reminded me of this: http://tinyurl.com/7g89n
Which Robert Burton were you referring to? (You can see I'm a bit of a Philistine.)
Back later.
Hi
Maria Posted May 8, 2009
Robert Burton:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Burton_(scholar)
He was an unmarried clergy man. In his Anatomy of Melancholy, he devotes a part to Love melancholy. The latin bit belongs to that.
England...
Precisely, I learnt yesterday about that in the Moral Dilema thread. I had a good laugh.
The bit I wrote was "contaminated" with that expression. I came to my mind, found it funny and used it.
I´ve told you. I like to play with words.
Hi
Maria Posted May 8, 2009
Don´t know what happens with wiki. I can read it in Spanish and English, but when I link it here... strange..
Never mind.
