Morning Misty!
I thought I'd post here instead of taking up Websailor's thread with other stuff.
I have just looked at your 360 photos and thought they were extremely good. One or two points please:
Where are Laughton Woods? and is the Calke you speak of local to you; or is it Calke Abbey?
Where in Crowle did you take that pic?
I am not actually 'local' at all. I really live in sunny Derbyshire; but my Husband and I have a static caravan on 7 Lakes Country Park in Crowle. Although I know that Gainsborough is not far away, I have never visited - although I do have a friend who lives there somewhere - is it a good place to visit from the tourist/shoppers point of view? if so, I must have a mosey along there one day soon.
Keep in touch and do feel free to visit my space sometime and if you like, add me to your friends list.
Scorp.

Hi, Misty , I see the gang's all here. Or nearly all of them
I think I have just clicked who you are. You wouldn't be Smurfles' daughter would you?
If so, an extra welcome to the Badger thread. See you back over there. I tried to look at your photos tonight but the computer crashed!! I will try again early tomorrow, when I usually have more luck.
I would love you to come and photograph our badgers but it's rather a long way, in the middle of the West Midlands. If last year is anything to go by, I can *almost* guarantee a sighting.

That was nice of you Scorpio, thanks.

Hi Scorpio!!
Thanks for the message... I just grab my picture and snap.. lol
Calke isn't local to me and we just called in one day while visiting relatives in Newcastle and i'm hopeless with Geography!
On the A18 towards Crowle there are a number of lovely little fishing spots which is where the crowle shot was taken but as I am an enforcement officer, I do get all over North Lincolnshire so my pictures really could be taken anywhere.
Gainsborough is having some major improvements going on at the minute and I am sure that in a year or two it will be ok for visitors but i'm really not sure that I would go there without armed guards just yet! lol
Anytime you fancy a visit to the woods though... give me a buzz and I will show you around! :o)

scorp Posted Mar 14, 2007
I'll hold you to the invitation to the woods; although as I've just crocked my foot, it may be a while yet. Hubby has gone to the caravan alone again today, whilst I rest up here.
What do you enforce - people or animals?
Hi friend!

I hadn't noticed a posting mentioning your foot...i do hope you'll soon be up and about again, but the weather forecast mentined snow for next week,so don't worry too much about not going out!!
Take care,chat soon.

scorp Posted Mar 14, 2007
Hi Smurfles!
Snow even for someone like me who loves the stuff, we can well do without it now.
There hasn't been an earlier posting about my foot, 'cos I only did it last night idiot. I went out for a quick pollute before bed; and as I like to listen out for any marauding wildlife, didn't put the outside light on. Lo and behold I lost my footing somehow and landed sitting - fortunately - on the garden bench. Unfortunately, my right leg flew in the air and I 'kicked' the cast iron side of the bench with the top of my foot. Apart from the initial pain which made me go all Anglo Saxon, it didn't seem to bother me after that. However, come the morrow, I could hardly stand and it has got progressively more painful as the day wears on. (It's much easier to walk backwards as the heel doesn't hurt). It has lovely shades of black and blue today.
Hi friend!

Sory to hear about your foot Scorpio Sound painful. Have you any Arnica gel or cream? It is brilliant for taking bruising out.
PHM swears by it, as he has thin skin thanks to steroids, and is always bruising himself!!

scorp Posted Mar 14, 2007
Hi WS! thanks for the concern. No I haven't any Arnica; but ye olde foot has had several goodly dollops of witch hazel gently rubbed in. Hopefully tomorrow I shall be able to hobble a bit faster.

I'm Back!!!!
Sorry for the delay everyone *getting told of by Smurfles* but I never seem to stop working!
As well as it been very busy at work we are in the process of renovating an old gamekeepers cottage out here in the woods so it's pretty non-stop.
Anyway, in answer to your question, I enforce people and crimes against the environment. Don't really want to say too much as I issue face to face fines and don't want to give too much away.
While i'm here, thought that this might intrigue some of you....
While driving home last week, around 5 minutes from home, I spotted a very unusual pheasant...
I know that pheasants are quite common and seem to get just about everywhere out here, we even have some that wander around ASDA car park, however, this one (and we've had it confirmed by the man at the RSPB), although a common pheasant.... it's GREEN!!!!
I have to say that I was very excited. It has now been recorded with the RSPB and the colouring is rare so if you like, here is the link to one of the few pictures that I took and I am happy to email him to anyone who would like a closer look.

Hope the foot gets better hun... and I will try to get on here a little more often but if the plaster in the bedroom has to come off one more time... i'm going to scream!
lol

Hi Misty!
I've just got back myself this morning. The M18 has been horrendous - it took me an hour and a half to do just over 50 miles
That pheasant sure looks
The foot is improving all the time thanks; despite the fact that SS managed to knock it with a table on Saturday night. I am now able to drive ok.
Must as I've a mountain of washing awaiting my notice.
Hi friend!
scorp Posted Mar 26, 2007

Hi friend!
Misty Blue Posted Mar 26, 2007
What do you mean my pheasant looks strange??? IT'S GREEN!!!! OF COURSE IT'S STRANGE!!!! LMAO
Anyway.... for the bestest Mum ever.. you can also be a little strange. *wink*
We had our fox appear again this morning 05:30 on the dot.. sniffing around near the bird table and feeders.
Well... got the zoo to beed so will catch up with everyone later...

lol... I meant 'feed'! and you know it!
Well... we are liberating a small number of Battery hens this weekend and are collecting 17 of them from the chicken liberation front or something similar...
Scorpio.... if by 'Raynard' you mean our little foxy, then not really, owing to the above mentioned chicken issue. As lovely as it is to see them in the garden, we don't want to lose our chickens as soon as we get them.
We had the usual visitors to the garden yesterday and i'm now having to fill up the sunflower seed feeder every day! We appear to have adopted a little pheasant with a limp too.. lovingly known as 'Hoppy'. Think he must have been hit bar a car at some point but as long as he's there and eating, he'll be fine.He hops around the grounds with our Guinea Fowl.
I saw a 'lesser spotted smashed up car' on the way home last night... got really excited because they aren't really native to the woods here. As it was so unusual I did my duty and informed PC plod who turned up half an hour later at my house because they couldn't see the beautiful site that had parked itself in a field nearby. *tut*
and at the weekend visited Blacktoft Sands RSPB reserve - For anyone who has never been it is a wonderful place. Managed to catch two Marsh Harriers flying quite close to the hydes... lovely and made my weekend.
Well... back to the grindstone for now.... hope to catch up later.
Hi friend!
scorp Posted Mar 27, 2007
Hi Misty! We went to Blacktoft last Autumn and were also lucky enough to see the Marsh Harriers. We left just one hide unvisited, so we had something new to go back to this year. I'm looking forward to a return trip to Bempton Cliffs, for the return of the Puffins; we caught them just before migration last year and now I've got a new camcorder we should get some more interesting shots than stills. Also the Gannets are a thing to behold - never seen so many in one place. I think that is about the largest colony on the UK mainland.
