h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Only three more weeks (about, I don't really know, actually) of school left in this semester. Don't ask me about my grades. I'm making an A or a B, so be happy. Haven't spent much time doing social things, but I've really enjoyed being a bum this semester what with four classes. Next semester, I'm going to have five. Calculus, Biology II, Comp II, and a mandatory health. I'll have to take something else, so I'll probably take something required to graduate like speech or American government. Excited yet? I know I am. I am doing college visitations this weekend and next weekend. This weekend it's going to be Southern Poly. The only reason I'm willingly going to this visitation is because there is a HUGE orchid show in the same city (Atlanta) that day. That means that I will probably go and spend insane amounts of money on plants. I have agreed to limit myself to $50. I am a poor college student who will be living away from home next year, so I have to limit myself to small plants that I can rebloom. This makes sense, and my mother will be there to limit my purchases, anyhow. *sighs* I want an infinitely deep orchid account.

I have no more weeks, did my last exam yesterday, completely failed to ask the girl I think who has a crush on me out (didn't relay have the opportunity though). I am glad you are getting orchids, even if your not getting very many. And your living away from home next year? Wow. I like my house to much to live on campus, but then again I live in the same city as my Uni and on campus living is really stupid for that.

I have 4 and a bit more weeks this term I think. Then I guess I'll have to go home .

I have to live away from home next year if I want to go to a half-decent uni. The one I must attend in order to skip my senior year is the one I'm at. It's not bad, but it's not a 'good' school that specializes in anything technical. I like living at home, but it will be nice not having my mother always bothering me. I love my mum, but she is trying...and not just to me and my family. Ah, well, she means well, but I will enjoy some privacy for once.

That is probably it. I'm a masochist.

University networks are fantastic. Today I have downloaded over 4gb so far and there's 5 hours till midnight, when I will be out but my computer will be ticking over happily.

In other breaking news: I've just finished the shorter one of my 2 essays for 4pm Friday. And incidentally I'm not going to a single lecture this week.

There are T1 lines here, so everyone is always breaking down the firewalls and downloading shtuff, too. What do you download that takes four gig?

We have a T1 line as well, but the security is pretty tight after someone downloaded a 200gig file. We get charged money for anything thats not a university of canberra sight, but not much. I have $54 on now, it goes up with interest :P.

You pay it as a part of your admin fees for joining the UCU, you get $20 per semester from your $250. You also get UCU membership and a pay for the running of the SA, which is good if you need it to get out of a fix, like say failing or a bastard lecturer. And a free E-mail account which the university can assume you can access as the labs are open "all the time" (there not but lets not get into that). This is internet credit, and is withdrawn when you access those non UC sites. Databases don't count as well I believe, so you can download what you like from them. Of course those on campus will probably use up there $20 pretty quickly a friend of mine did quite frequently. However he did download 100mbyte files often. My university is a tight ar*** f***-wit looser uni and I hate it with a passion that grows every day. I have shouted 5 times now at the guy who "runs" it.

Mine is...podunk. I will be transfering to a smaller school that is much better next year. Skipping a year means you have to attend a crappy community college. Ah, well, I want to yell at a dean when I grow up.

Oh just games and films and music and stuff. It wasn't all one file you understand.

Frankly the network admin are probably all downloading stuff too so they may send general warnings around if copyright holders try to bugger them but unless you really obviously undeniably to the outside world screw up then they don't care.
