One thing I have noticed about people who have a passion about politics is the sheer anger that many of these people hold. Left wing political followers seem to be the angriest of the lot. They get angry if some person, in an insignificant country on the pimple of the backside of the world, gets even the slightest bit of abuse from anybody in authority. Up go their arms. "It's a disgrace!", "It's a travesty!", "what are our government going to do about it?!". I mean, come on, don't these people think that sorting out our own country is ever so slightly *more* important than someone elses? Instead of being angry about homeless and hungry people in India, say, why not be angry about the homeless and hungry people in *this* country. Why not get out and do something about these unfortunates who are in a much better place for the angry political-repeater (my term for someone who has no political thoughts of their own but merely spout rhetoric they have heard or read elsewhere), to help them ... If *that* is what they actually want.

I believe that, half the time, they are merely being angry for the sake of being angry and choosing crusades, as it were, outside of their own country because they have less chance of somebody saying "well, if you are that angry, perhaps you should do something about it?". Prepare for the sound of hundreds of thousands of faux-politically active people running for the hills in terror.
