I'm just dropping a note to say that we appreciate your sort of spear-heading the Minesweeping effort for a while now. And the eds are ready to help with some guidelines, moving work and bothering Jimster. In fact, I'm setting aside an hour tonight to trawl through the AWW.

I've drafted some guidelines for Minesweeping and sent them off to the other eds. I'd love your input on them as well, as you know the contents of the AWW better than I currently. Shall I email the draft-guidelines to you?

I'm being cautious (at least what I consider cautious!) in suggesting moves. Starting at the back end with the really old stuff. I thought it better to get on and make a start since it's such a big job rather than wait for all the fiddly points to be clarified. Hope I haven't stepped on any toes. Just tell me to back off if I'm being too gung ho again!

Good idea to start at the back. I'm doing some administrative things for the UG now (like emailing you!) and reading some UG entries I've missed, but I plan to get into the minesweeping arena soon again.

If I may make one request, it is that two miners not do all the sweeping, going from entry to entry, one proposing the other seconding, then the second firsting and the first seconding... This is because I don't want this to turn into a thoughtless process. I want y'all to take 20 seconds and consider the quality before proposing it for removal. If two miners turn it into something tedious to be done over and over to a few entries, then it loses that aspect of quality check. It helps, I think, if you continue to say why you're nominating or seconding it for removal.

If you're tired of it, take a break and get back to it later, if you can. There isn't any urgency, so take your time on the entries. Some have been in there longer than some of my relatives have been alive. No rush

Precisely why, when lizardy was an active miner, we never seconded each other's nominations.

I do think carefully before I nominate something and if I have doubts I voice them. Since I'm doing so much nominating it might be a good idea for me to not second (unless the piece is complete rubbish).
