I'm Whoami? - and I'm on of h2g2's many volunteer Aces - we welcome people to h2g2, and try to keep the peace from time to time.

So, welcome to h2g2 - an online community that genuinely deals with Life, The Universe and Everything! Well, actually, I suppose it would be fairer to say that it's on the way there, and that's where you come in.

h2g2 is productive, but not obsessively so. I have found over the last two years or so that it's one of the most relaxed, friendly communities out there! There are many ways to contribute to the Guide, which I'll go into below. However, the first thing you might want to consider doing is to read up a bit. <./>Read</.> contains some suggestions, and our own community newspaper is published on Thursday and is to be found at <./>ThePost</.>

The two principle ways of contributing to h2g2 are to write Guide Entries and to get involved in Conversations.

Guide Entries are created using the 'Add Entry' button on your Personal Space and on the menubars. Why not try writing a factual Entry on a subject close to your heart? Factual Entries can be submitted to Peer Review and there's a chance that they'll then be edited by highly trained professionals and linked to from the Front Page! There's more information on all this at the <./>Contribute</.> page.

Conversations are attached to every Entry and are the easiest way to get involved in the community - they're interactive and there's more about them on the <./>Talk</.> page. The <./>Smiley</.> page explains how to use smileys (you might know them as 'emoticons'). We've hundreds of them, including and many, many more.

Finally, please remember that you're bound at all times on h2g2 by the <./>HouseRules</.> that you signed up to when you registered. The most important part of this is probably the bit about copyright and intellectual property law - your writings must be original!
