Hello smiley - smiley.

I am usually off by now, but could not sleep tonight.

I have 6 grandchildren, my son has a daughter 7, son 3 1/2 and daughter 2 1/2, my daughter has three boys, 6 1/2, 4, and the baby 6 months old. What are the sex and ages of your grandchildren ?.

My daughter and her family will be coming to see me later today, so I think I had better say good night, for now, and hope you do not have to work to hard, it sounds interesting what you do, is it though ?.

As I am partial to a slice of smiley - cake, I will certainly drop by again.

Hello VK

smiley - wow 6 grandchildren!! Lucky you! I have 3 as follows:

Eldest daughter (hootoo name - Wilma) has two children: Pebbles is 5 and she started school full time last January, bright little button she is - likes pottering about with me in the greenhouse. She has a 3-year old brother, Bam-Bam, a very apt pseudonym, right little thug he is, with a winning smile and a hug every time he's been naughty - which is quite often, we get along fine on a one-to-one basis.

My youngest daughter (hootoo name - Betty) has one 2 year old son, Dino who is quite a sensitive little soul but gets terribly excited when I appear. In fact, Betty is thinking of banning me (not really) because she reckons I come with E-numbers!!

Both daughters happily married to two wonderful sons-in-law and they both live in the same road as each other only half a mile away from me, so I am in contact with them on a regular basis.

Anyway, I will leave you with some smiley - cake to be going on with and hope to hear from you again soon. I am not at work tonight (Good Friday) but will be back on the night of Friday through to Saturday, so will catch up with you then. Have another piece smiley - cake in reserve and a smiley - cappuccino

Take care, Universal Granny

Hi Universal Granny

Thanks for the smiley - cake and smiley - tea most enjoyable.

Hope you had a nice night off

My daughters oldest boy, is the quiet sensitive one, the middle one we have nicknamed the smiley - monster as he will not leave his older brother alone, and likes to get his own way, but he is also so lovable, and quite the funny man, you cannot help laugh at him.
Since my daughter M had her last baby she has given up work, so I have been made redundant from child minding, I had looked after them since the eldest was three months old, I still see them a lot, but we now live about 12 miles apart.

Do you get time to do much gardening?.

Hello VK

Have been off line mainly because of Easter (I can only really access hootoo from work) and also because I was doing some heavy "grannying" over the holidays.

Do I get time for gardening? Well, not enough time really, but as much as I can. I only have a small garden (48' long) and I do have a greenhouse (newly acquired) from which I produce hanging baskets for all the family and a few neighbours, and flowers for my front garden. I have mainly shrubs in the back garden because I have a very clumsy border collie!!

I am venturing into vegetables this year, but in raised beds and limited quantities. When I retire, and persuming I am fit enough, I would like to take on an allotment just across the park from where I live and have a go at self-sufficiency in vegetables.

How about you?

Take care, UG

Hello UG

Hope you had a nice Easter, and time with the Grandchildren ?. We did, but daughters middle son was bad on Sat, so I went with her to the hospital, he has Tonsilitus, getting better now though.

It sounds as though you are kept busy with your hanging baskets, I did try planting some myself some years ago, but I did and do not have a greenhouse, and so the seeds take a long time to grow outside. I just plant them in pots nowadays.

I too like growing vegetables, but,Rhubarb is all that I grow now, as where I live has only a very small garden. I used to have a house with a very large garden, and so I had a section for my vegetables, I grew a lot of runner beans, when I moved I took some of the Rhubarb crowns with me.
We do not have any allotments by us, but I know I could not look after one because of my back. It is a pity because I used to find working in the garden so relaxing mentally.

I think I will have a slice of smiley - cake and a cup of smiley - tea , and iron some clothes for tomorrow.

Universal Granny

With all that blank space, I thought you'd stopped talking to me!!

I'll join you in the smiley - cake and smiley - coffee but you can have the ironing!! I hate it and most of my clothes are bought with the specific criteria of being drip dry/non-iron!

Various combinations of grandchildren, sons-in-law and daughters popped in and out all over Easter. My three year old grandson managed to drown himself with the entire contents of the watering can when no one was looking, and went home, giggling, dressed solely in one of my warmer sweatshirts, tied round the middle by the sleeves!

Two year old grandson looked solemly at the (very small) Easter Egg I had given him and pronounced that he would not be eating it all at my house, because he wanted to take some home and share it with the cat!

Five year old granddaughter appeared normal, ate the Easter Egg, gave me a kiss and a cuddle and said "Thank you", and stated that she thought boys came from a different planet to girls. How right she is!

I love rhubarb, I'll go and make the custard smiley - runsmiley - run

Hello UG

smiley - sorry about the space, I have been using a new word processor, instead of notepad, cannot get the hang of it.

I do not mind ironing, as I usually do it in the kitchen on a Sunday morning, while listening to the radio. smiley - musicalnote

I think it must be something about three year olds, or boys, as daughters middle one just the same.

I did not buy daughters boys Easter eggs this year, as she thought they had had enough smiley - choc, bought them an assortment of books instead, they both liked the magic painting ones best, baby I bought a book with a squeeky bit in the middle. He is sitting up now so was able to hold it, and brothers squeeked it for him.

I was not able to see sons children, so sent Easter cards with money in.

Hope you enjoyed the rhubarb, custard was lovely smiley - ok.

Have a good night.

Take care too VK smiley - smiley
