Hello GA, and a huge smiley - hug back, I've missed you!

All the messy bits around a bereavement now tidied up. I may sound a little callous, and I don't mean to, but she had been "dead" to us for the last ten years with severe dementia, and to be honest this was a welcome release - for her and us.

That has been taking up my days of late, and then I had to catch up on things at home, and now I have had the busiest Easter ever... I had to go in to work from 0500 to 0800 on Good Friday morning, spent the rest of the day in the loft with my two (grown-up) daughters, sorting things out, whilst my lovely son-in-law took car load after car load up to the local dump, and my other son-in-law looked after all four grandchildren!!

Saturday was back to work from 0400 until 1800, and out in the evening babysitting. Sunday was a lovely floppy day at my friends sisters house, and today has been manic in the garden and clearing out a room that is to be decorated!

How about you? What have you done over Easter? Been relaxing, I hope. Catch me up on your news.

And thanks for thinking of me.

Take care smiley - hug UG

No it didn't sound callous and its lovely to have you back.

My mother died last year (06/06/2006, an easy date to remember) - Alcohol, dementia, broken hip. I suppose it was over a period of nearly ten years also, but it was the last four that was worse. Funnily enough, appart from the last couple of months, the last year was probably her happiest - too far gone to worry and enjoying the care staff. We are only just starting to settle things - selling her house - paying back £20k+ to the local authority.

Easter has been good, we dismantled an overgrown greenhouse in my step-daughter's garden, cleared the rubbish and hedge -several trips to the tip. then work on own garden - tip runs again. Today - just got back from a BBQ at afore-mentioned step-daughter. Very relaxing, terrific weather. Didn't see mine, they are a bit scattered.

I don't know how you manage those early hours. I have a little part time office dog's body job,a couple of afternoons a week, with a lovely small company just round the corner.

catch up soon GAsmiley - hug

Hello GA smiley - hug

"Didn't see mine, they are a bit scattered." Tell me about them and how far is "scattered"?

A thought occurs - I don't actually know where in the world you are!

I always presume England because that is where I am - but that is not always the case. Where are you?

You seem to be on-line now, and you don't work nights, so I presume you are either on the same time scale as myself or you have insomnia!

Mine are in Essex, Glouscestershire and Dorset a few miles away. I have two grandsons and one step grandson.

Hello GA - that's some family! How do you keep track!!

I was so pleased to hear of the ceramic art exhibition you have been setting up for an adult LD. I have a bit to do with LD, but not in a professional way, more voluntary work.

We have craft evenings sometimes but as we only have the Church Hall for 3 hours, it does not give us much time to create anything too complicated. But the potential of some of them is amazing. One lad sits and sketches all evening (whether it is a craft night or not) and the caricatures he comes up with are so "spot-on".

We have one autistic lad who creates geometric designs to the exact angle in all four quarters, but he creates them out of any material at all - drinking straws, raffia, matchsticks, rice, pennies.

I know this is small fry compared to how you are involved, but art (of any kind) is a language we can all speak, whatever our abilities.

We went to Dorset last year for our holidays. Me, a friend and my dog that is. Stayed in a place called ... oh rats! I've forgotten it. It was an unusual name, and at the western end of Dorset, began with an "S"...oh well, senior moment it is then!

Two daughters (Wilma and Betty - not their real names, just names for use on this site) and, similarly, Pebbles, Bam-Bam and Dino, and then the fourth little girl came along and I ran out of Flintstones names to give her - what was the name of the vacuum cleaner?

Will stop rabbitting on now, speak to you soon, and good luck with the exhibition.

Special needs (maths) in 'Mrs Green's'.

So, is Colfox a special needs school, or did you teach to special needs children within a general school?

We only went to Salwayash for a holiday, so I don't know much about the local area, but that doesn't mean I am not interested.

My friend insists she saw, and heard, a ghost in the cottage we stayed in. Spooked her a lot. Doesn't bother me, but the dog wasn't impressed either!

Having a moment there, for some reason the brain cell glitched and I was thinking you lived there - silly me.

No colfox was/is a comp with a special need dept. I went on to teach maths at another school, also comp.
