Sgt Len Scott RAPC

Hi, Deborah,

I'm writing a quick query on my father's behalf about some possible illustrations he has for his next article -- about his first visit to Rome.

He owns a copy of a booklet issued by American Express to American GIs visiting the city -- '3000 years in 15 minutes'. He'd like to reproduce scans of the front and back covers to illustrate his piece, but is worried about copyright.

Is anyone really going to mind in this context? I would think it came under the heading of fair usage, but he'd welcome your reassurance. I should add that he has some relevant and amusing comments on the content and presentation of the booklet...

All the best,

Allan Scott

Hi Allan,

I'm afraid we can't give advice about copyright, as it would be your responsibility to check with the publisher of the material. I can tell you that fair use applies to text, not images.

Hope that helps.

Deborah
