Hi, Clio! We Canadian H2G2 folks are few and far between, and there are only 3 in BC including you, as far as I know. Drop by and give me a visit, and I will give you some Canadian threads to look at if you want. (I am in North Vancouve, btw)

Thank you very much for the welcome. I didn't realize us B.C.ers were such a rare breed. Any advice you can give me on this site would be very helpful. I'm in Powell River by the way and I wont feel hurt if you don't know where it is because most people don't. I plan to write in the journal regularly so you can peruse that if you'd like. Hey! I am an island boy, and I am one of the few people I know that were born here. I would be a sorry excuse for a BCer if I didn't know where Powell River was. We might be taking the News Hour on the road there in a few months! That's right, I work for BCTV (now Global) as their production cameraman. If you are watching tv right now, you might be seeing something I did!

Advice, that is a tough one. I think you will find out that this is not all serious academics, some of the threads are nothing more than chat rooms. Most are thoughtful threads about interesting things. The slant is decidedly British, naturally but there are people from everywhere. It is truly a guide to the Galaxy! Most of what you need you will find out from trial and error, as did we all. Explore, have fun! Check the threads, find some friends! Currently there is a bit of a ban on mentioning the conflict overseas, but we still usually find a way around that. Well, that is an overstatement I guess. Not so much a ban as a sensitive issue. btw, one of the best ways to find out about things and people is to go to their site and look around. It can be a little overwhealming at first, but it gets easier the more you try.

Oh, and one more thing. (You probably think I am an incurable talker, but believe it or not I am usually fairly quiet)

If there is one thing to tell you, it is about *backlog*. When you go to a thread, there are a whole bunch of dots (or one or two if it is new) in the corner. Plus VTR (or DVD) style arrows for forward and back. It is best to check the previous posts as far as you have time for before commenting. This is the *backlog*. You risk being called uninformed if you don't. Some people here are pontificating pseudo intellectuals, some are poseurs, some are hellfire s**t disturbers. Most (90%) are incredibly wise idividuals with interesting points of view. Just so ya know. I'll shut up now.

I've discovered a bit of the stuff you mentioned there. I've read through a few threads and seen a lot of repeating that could have been avoided. I've posted to a thread (other than my own!) and am finding the whole site a little less confusing. (only a little so far ) I didn't realize that you had posted more or I would have responded earlier. I've been on this site a lot just exploring around. That must be a very interesting job. I don't actually have tv but I'll keep my eye out for when you guys come to town.

If we do actually chose there and we do actually find the money to do it, I promise you a front row seat if you want it!

Absolutely, go ahead but you might be disappointed with my weird ways.

As to the road trip, it looks like it is off the table until the unfortunate occurence south of Turkey has completely come to a grinding halt. But if it is renewed, I will let you know.

Worry not! Weirdness is my favourite thing. I have read through (and posted to) a few threads you have been on and you seem like a guy who knows where his towel is.
