Grrr. Arrrrgh.

It's Sunday. Not only that, but it's Sunday evening. And I'm at work. I've been fighting an earache for a few days, which seems to have shifted from my right ear into my left. I was late for work this afternoon as my bus was delayed and the traffic was slow due to some mini-marathon thing that was happening today. And just before I got off the bus, a wasp stung me just below the eye.

Oh, happy day...

Introductions all around

First things first. Obviously, my name is not Eddie Brock. As any True Believer can tell you, Eddie Brock is the human alias of the dreaded Spiderman villian Venom; an embittered ex-reporter who blames Spiderman for ruining his career, and was found by the symbiotic alien lifeform that had been Spiderman's black suit. The two became one, and dedicate themselves to taking Spidey down, ending up one of the scariest and most memorable villians in Spiderman's history.

Quite why I chose this as a message board pseudonym I honestly couldn't say. Maybe because I read the comics in which Venom first appeared when I was younger, and they made an impact on me. There is something cool about casting yourself as a supervillian. Harry Knowles and his Ain't It Cool 'spies' do it. Well, if the website that got my into this internet business in the first place like to take on the persona of 'evil genius', then it's good enough for me. And so I became Eddie Brock, when I posted my thoughts on the surfer girl movie Blue Crush, however many months ago that was.

From time to time I do ponder how apt the title is. Am I a big, scary, black suited, long tongued, psychotic monster, hellbent on vengeance? Well, aren't we all from time to time. But all in all I'd like to think I'm something more pleasant. There's no denying the allure of the mask of anonymity that message boards provide, and I'll admit there are times I've been spiteful. (But they started it Miss, honest.) But I swear I've never gone out of my way to stir trouble and make things uncomfortable for others. If I have an opinion I'll voice it, but I don't want to do it in bad spirit.

After all, doesn't everybody really just want to get along?
