Alternative Fuels - Methane
Posted Jun 22, 2004
Is there any liquid by-products off slurry/sewage that can be used as a fuel/distilled down to produce a fuel, or is methane the only usefull fuel given off? Is there any liquids/solvents that absorb methane?

Alternative Fuels - Methanol
Posted Jun 22, 2004
Hi, i'm interested in alternative fules for transportation and I have some questions about Methanol, hopefully you'll be able to enlighten me!
Where do you get Methanol from, can it be produced from organic matter?
What is Methanols calorific value compared to Petrol? how much more Methanol do you have to burn to get the same power if you converted a petrol engine?
Why ar'nt we using methanol to fuel vehicles in the UK??? Is it more expensive than Petrol? What about tax, would it be taxed at the same rate as Petrol?
Thanks for your time
