Just seen this. Darn kids. Is he doing A levels or working?

Hope you're feeling fitter now. I'm re-editing my book at the mo whilst suffering sickness and diarrhoea and a killer headache. Says a lot about the text smiley - laugh.

Have you finished Kate's book yet? It's a great story. I wonder how long it took her to write. smiley - biggrin

Hello, my darling!

Have not got Kate's book yet as I have not been out of the house! Read the excerpts though. Looks damned fine!

Son - at work since last year. Earns a decent wage but his girlfriend seems to think he earns more. He has just been told that he is being moved on to better things. I suggested that 'should' he get a raise, keep quiet!

Poor you, Echo. You not got a lurgy have you? (Have a look at 'Mike', my story for Graham, hehe) So, we could be having another famous author, yippee! You've got my email address, haven't you from WW? Should be on there somewhere, I think.

Hope you are feeling better soon, and get on with that book. I can feel a fantastic holiday next year coming on for you. Oh, the Maldives, Seychelles...

Yes it is a good read get it from Tesco online cheaper.

I don't know why boys are so daft with girls. They see everything through testosterone coloured glasses.

A published children's writer told me £5000 is average for a first children's book, paid in about four installments. Can take up to 18 months to appear in print she said. Royalties - seven and a half percent per book, over and above the amount of the advance. I think that means I'd have to sell over £5,000 worth, (made up from seven and a half per cents) of books before I earned more royalties. I may be confused about that. That's if I get a publisher. Still, my agent is young and enthusiasic and it's the only time I get to speak to a young upwardly mobile man (Does that make him a YUMM! ha)

Mr Echo says never mind it will be nice to have something to leave to my children and grandchildren. God I feel old. The incontinence pads and big knickers calling me...

Will email you if I get a deal.

This is the side which new authors do not realise. They think that because JK has made bucketloads of dosh, this will automatically happen to them. No way, Jose! A lot of her income has resulted from various rights to merchandise and films.

When I was in school last week, I was scanning the shelves and shelves and shelves of books. All these people writing stories, not getting paid a huge amount of money, but at least their work is enjoyed. Dick King Smith is a favoured author, but do we ever see him on the 'rich list'? Lucy Daniels is another prolific writer (okay - her stories are all based around the same theme but with different animals). At last Jacqueline Wilson is being recognised. Benjamin Zephariah (?) features amongst the poetry. Janet (deceased) and Allan Alhberg (I loved Skelebones!)

All these people and more, still producing work. No wonder it is hard for new writers to break into this market.

Echo, if you are feeling old, then I am positively ancient!

Arghsmiley - run Oh no, I can't do that, I'll trip over my Zimmer Frame!

Good luck with the YUMM!
