Falling in love can do that for you; as I think has been mentioned here already.
Best wishes for your new romance az. Let us know how it is going (until it gets too personal) and the males on here will pretend we're not actually jealous.
I'm off for a few days so may not catch you for a while.

Hi az,
One, faintly bizarre, post a whole year ago and then nothing. Yes; a very good candidate indeed, thank you.
No-one seemed to have even attempted to answer that one post either so perhaps they were trolling and went away disappointed?

Yes, a rather long-winded sort to give up so soon. Sock-puppet I reckon. I believe there were two postings. Anyhow, glad to be of service!
The romance is going just fine, thanks. But no worries about me getting too personal about it in public.
Meanwhile, the novel is on the back burner (though still rattling about in my rattled brain) but in August I will have fewer classes so I might be able to get a start on it then.
How are you?

Sock puppet?
I'm OK thanks. Still doing bits of decorating and stuff. After wallpapering half a room on Monday I had to strip part of it off and start again because there was a fault in the paper which was only apparent when it was stuck on the wall. The DIY store wasn't happy about refunding my money for the remaining rolls but they gave in eventually. The manager will be walking again soon; with the aid of a stick.
Typically English summer weather here today - warm and humid. It feels much hotter than it really is but it's not at all comfortable. I think there's a thunderstorm in the air but it's not forecast. Maybe as it cools down this afternoon we'll get some rain. Still, the forecast for the weekend is much better so we might have a couple of nice days out for a change.
I'm sorry about Lua. It must be very uncomfortable for her if her tumour is infected. It's legendary how hard it is to give a cat medicine so would it not be possible for the vet to give an injectable antibiotic? Welding gloves, a bee-keepers outfit and a fencing mask and you should be alright.
So, who is this lucky man then? What can you tell us about him? Where did you meet?

azahar Posted Jul 22, 2004
That was a good suggestion about the injectable anti-biotic.
I've spoken to Maria and she is going to bring me a week's worth tomorrow when she comes for her class and later I'm going to take Lua to the clinic so M can clean out the wound. After my recent success giving Azar his rabies jab I'm pretty confident I can give Lua a quick daily jab. Much easier than trying to force a pill down her throat anyhow.
What can I tell you about the lucky man? Well, we've actually been friends for about a year and a half and now we are becoming more, um, friendly. Still early days though. But it would be lovely if it turned out 'and they lived happily ever after'.
We shall see. . .

Glad to be of service.
I do like a good romance so I hope this works out really well for you. Happiness rubs off too so I'm glad you told us; it's brightened my life to know someone I know is having a happy experience.
Another thing is that a new love will always give a boost to your (as in anyone's) self-esteem so it's a good time to focus your new-found energy onto something you've 'always wanted' to do. Assuming you can fit it in around all the dating and stuff...

Especially as it's quite positive energy - it could end up effecting lots of other areas in my life (if it hasn't already).
Another great idea - aren't you the clever one!

I'm on a roll. Best to stop while I'm ahead.
Time for a break. Join me?
The God thread has livened up lately - Andrew S seems to have stimulated some debate. I can't say I've ever come across Opus Dei 'in the flesh' but it strikes me as more 'extremist' than 'enthusiast' and I'm always a bit wary of extremists. He seems to be able to hold a lucid conversation however which is more than can be said for some contributors. Oddly we haven't seen anything of our favourite god pushers recently. Did justin finally get incarcerated perhaps? What happened to the Man From Mars too?
Did you hear about the Union of Professional Satanists (UPS)?
For ten Euros they do an overnight devilry.
I wonder how Kelli's doing with her diet. Oi, Kelli, how's the diet going? !

Overnight Devilry!
Well, you may have seen that I had a chat with Andrew a couple of evenings ago and he thought I was *attacking* him. Must be a Christian thing, the ol' persecution complex.
I think I told you at the beginning of this thread what I thought of Opus Dei. Given that it actually takes quite a bit of motivation and money to belong to this particular extremist Catholic sect I don't see it as the same thing as someone brought up Christian who just carries on with their religion because they are too lazy to question it. These guys are serious. Check this out:

Anyhoodle, Andrew and Della are now buddies and he is sympathising with her for having to put up with the likes of me. Who me?
Possibly Man from Mars and Justin have been sanctioned?
Have you not seen the latest hootoo whacko, Gigabane?

Apparently he wants to take over the world and make it a capital-letter-free zone. Or something like that - perhaps I've misunderstood?
Meanwhile, just back from a lovely 'lunch class' with my student Carmen. Aarrgh, not going to lose any tonnage this way. And this morning we started the injections for Lua and later I took her down to the clinic to get the infected tumour cleaned out (ick). Had a cone collar on her for awhile but she is just to upset having it on so now that I'm home again and can keep an eye on her I've taken it off again. But I think she must already be feeling much more comfortable. Wish me luck with the daily injections!
Any plans for the weekend?

Weekend?
Have to be quick, got to go home now.
Stepdaughter has interview and will need transport stop. Will have to suspend usual DIY stop. Still, it's a day out stop.
Good luck with Lua's injections.

Hello
The interview seemed to go well but we'll have to wait to see if she gets a second one now. It's a lovely place to work so if she gets the job she'll be delighted. She will have to find somewhere to live though so that should be interesting; we'll be househunting on her behalf. Unfortunately it's an expensive place to live (but then, where isn't?) so finding somewhere nice enough for the money may be a challenge. We'll try to find somewhere without bats.
How was your weekend?

My weekend? F**kin HOT, man! Barely left the flat, which was a drag because I really wanted to see Fahrenheit 9-11.
It seems to be cooling down a bit now - to the lower 40's.
Did you see the update on the Lua thread?
az

Fathom Posted Jul 27, 2004
Faintly ironic that - the heat kept yopu away froma a movie calle Fahrenheit 9-11.
Bats - yes strange, why do some versions carry rabies and others don't? Perhaps it depends on their diet or something. Obviously vampires would be at risk from infected blood but maybe a little fruitbat (pippistrelle?) wouldn't. I know they're a nuisance but it still seems cruel to block up the entrance to the Bat Cave. "Look Robin, some Joker's put a cloth over our doorway."
Well it hasn't been hot here. Despite a promising forecast it's been damp, dull and windy. Wanna swap for a week?
I'm sorry Lua's having such problems. I don't know what to suggest - it's not easy to stop a cat licking itself without using something like a cone collar. She'll soon remove any kind of dressing I expect. All you can do is try to keep her distracted. And wear red clothes.
Thunderbirds is on here at the moment. I was a big fan of the original when i was a child (and ever since) so I might go and see it; in a few days once the kids have all been.

Seems very quiet on here today.
It's always the same; when I've got time to join in there's nobody here, then when I'm too busy to do anything other than pop by for a look there's 200 posts worth of backlog in every conversation.
What are you up to? Any deep debates happening I should know about?

I'm sort of here/not here. Been teaching at home and checking in here now and then. I can't think of any good threads atm.
I'm thinking of taking two weeks off at the beginning of September - my first real 'holiday' in about twelve years. And suddenly I am feeling just *how much* I actually need a holiday - and I have six weeks to go!
