New Zealand's famous for three things: Sheep, Rugby players and Volcanoes. We are mainly an agucultural nation(lots of farms) and have millions of sheep and cows. Rugby is our national sport, and our world cup team, the All Blacks, are famous for preforming a Haka, a maori war dance, before each match. New Zealand also has a lot of Volcanoes, which are basicly mountains but they tend to erupt in the middle of the ski season!!
most of the country is farmland but there is still a lot of native rainforest, which we call "bush".
we are a developed nation, with a largly english culture but some american influences, plus many cultural aspects from the native Maori people, who form a large part of our society. living hare is much like anywhere else except we only have a population of 4 million, so it's never very crowded.

I'm studying Maori art right now, its very interesting!
it must be nice to never be crowded! England is packed! you have to go right up to the north before the people start thining out.

sounds neat, though. What's England like to live in? were in England do you live? Palmerston north is in the middle of the north island, about 20 k's from the sea. It's in the manawhitu, abuot the only reigion in NZ that is relativly flat. on a clear day up high, you can see the volcanoes up north.
There is a lot of Maori art at my school, which (i'm no expert) shows a lot of tribal influences from the local Rangatanie tribe.
I have some maori friends, and I'm european (Scottish/Dutch).
Palmerston is really boring. It has a population of 70,000 so its only the size of a london suburb. But it's really friendly and never very crowded, which is probably better than living in a big city like Wellington or Auckland. I can't imagine what a big English city is like.

I live in a small village just outside Oxford, its small but still very compact.
Big english cities, well they are noisy, busy, dirty and very very full! The streets are lined with people and full of buses so you are forever playing chicken with the traffic when trying to cross the road. Despite the noise and filth though they can be very interesting places to be! lol

Hi Becca.
The wind here is driving me crazy! It never stops. It's roaring straight up from Antarctica, But as it's the middle of summer here it's still really, really hot. What's winter like in England? does it snow? It never snows in palmy but it does in the cold south. To see snow I have to go up mount Ruapehu in the middle of the island, but only in winter and half the time the mountain is erupting.
I like animals. There must be lots of local wildlife in England like badgers, etc. All we have are english birds, some native birds like Tuis, Keherus, etc hedgehogs and the ubiquitos possom, a type of less cuddly koala bear from australia. What sort of wildlife do you see?
I can't imagine what life in europe is like. All those countries within easy reach. NZ is so isolated. But still a lot like the rest of the world, culturally at least.
Well, time for me to go. LOL, and I'll be back about 12 hours after you read this. see ya.
ps: do you have an MSN address? I am 12 hours ahead of you, so I can be online between 8 pm and 10 am your time during the weekend, and from 4 am to 10 am during the week, except on tuesday and wedensday because I have to work. Remember, I am a day ahead, so when you read this on friday I will be on to saturday. my MSN is [email protected]
bye.

It hardly ever snows here! you wouls think it would because it is always so cold, we had a bit of snow in January (i think it was january) but thats the first snow i have seen here for ages. And it went the next day.
I live in the south and ts quite busy down here so there isnt as much variety of wildlife as up north, but you see the odd deer, kites, hedgehogs, foxes etc, i havent seen many badges! but they come out at night so i guess that's why!
i dont have msn, sorry, but i have your email address for when i set myself up an email account.

Hi becca! The weekend is here at last and boy, do I need a break. I've been working my bum off at school and work and today I saw a girl who I was about to ask out in town with her new boyfriend.
Do you have any siblings, pets (sometimes they can be both) etc? I have a 10 year old sister called Steph. She thinks she rules the family. Also I have a parriket called hugo who thinks he rules ME and a cat called Jazz who acts like a stuck-up tart. She pretends to hate me but purrs whenever I enter the room.

Hey! I'm HERE, lovebirds! I've been absent recently with sh*tloads of homework. But now I'm back with a vegance, Ha!
Pleased to meet you, Greg. I would have replied earler but I was drowning in work.
Here's the latest Antipodiean installment.
Yet another week passes by. The stinking hot days of summer seem to be set to stay, although by now it should be autumn. It's great but I'm getting unbeleviby sunburnt because the hole in the ozone layer is right overhead.
Have either of you read The Hitch-Hikers' Guide To The Galaxy? If so, please tell me what you thought of it. Douglas Adams was undoughtibly the best author of the 20th century, in my opinion.
Well, that's abought all I have to say at the moment. see ya later, Becca and Greg.
P.S- can you give me one of your postal addresses please? I'll send you some photos, etc. My address is: 41 st Albans avenue, Plamerston North, New Zealand.
