Lisa -
Mucho apologies for not responding to your post on my page. I'm afraid it doesn't usually occur to me to look at that section - I sort of glance over it and assume that nothing new's added, I really don't know why. Well, maybe it's because I'm still not used to it after all these months of sporadic logging in.
At any rate, sorry again. I'm normally reasonably well-mannered, honest!
All the Best

It probably sounds ridiculous, but I've a policy of not putting my name out online - nothing personal, just something I've decided on over the years That said, there's enough info on my page for anyone who knows me to work out who I am!
At any rate, I shan't take 6 weeks to reply again now I know you're there!

Yes, I practise witchcraft, and have done for about 15 years. About 10 years ago, I became involved in a Wiccan Tradition, a move I had avoided for some considerable time on the grounds that I did not want anyone telling me what to believe. However, I found that the local Blue Star Wiccan community (A940141) was both friendly and sane, and that the system allowed me a great deal of flexibility in thinking and practise, while still providing a firm grounding in theology and ritual.
I'm also a member of an Asatru (A918452) kindred, which I co-founded about 7 years ago, which I find complements my Wiccan Tradition very well - in fact, the two communities often attend each others' events, and have a closer social and religious tie than many Wiccan and Asatru communities.
Besides this, I have my personal devotions, and I find that these 3 aspects of my religious life form a very satisfying whole.

Well, today I'm off for the weekend with my husband and in-laws, which promises to be lots of fun. We're meeting up with more of his family, and will generally be having A Good Time (always easy with them). So I won't be around until Monday.
I hope you find the article helpful. It does feel a tad weird, recommending articles I wrote; it's honestly not because I'm egotistical, but because they're the only articles on those subjects on H2G2!
Hope the art goes well

A lovely time, thank you.
So far, I've written the Blue Star Wicca article, the Asatru article, one on Vodoun (in sub-editing), one on Paganism (in sub-editing), and 2 on veganism. You can see which articles H2G2 people have written by going to their personal space and scrolling down the left-hand side.
I'm considering other articles, but don't have anything sorted out as yet.

The very best thing you can do if you'd like to contribute an article is to click on the 'Contribute' button you'll see on every page of H2G2. It will take you to the pages dealing with how to go about writing an article, what the guidelines are, how to check on whether someone else has written an article on the same subject with the same slant, how the whole editing process works, and what you can expect at every stage. They also show you how to use H2G2's version of HTML (even I got used to it, so it really can't be too difficult) in order to properly format your article.
My advice then is to kick around a few ideas on a word processor or paper in order toget the feel of the thing, and then begin writing up. Find lots of good webpages on the subject in order to link to them, and try to provide a 'resources' or 'references' section at the bottom ofthe article to give your readers somewhere to go for further reading.
It may take some time to create a good article - the software allows you to save your article without submitting it to peer review (a necessary step if you're aiming at having it Edited for the official guide). When you're ready to go to peer review, submit your article, and then post on the thread created by your submission and politely ask people to contribute constructive criticism, check typos, and generally be helpful. And they will - perhaps not immediately, but they will. Be prepared to make some changes in line with suggestions given if you feel that it will create a more balanced, clearer, and more helpful article. Your article may go through significant changes during peer review, or stay precisely the same, but you should be prepared for changes. Typos are a big problem, so checking your spelling is a must while drafting your article - keep hitting the 'Update' button and reading it; you'll always miss some, simply because you stop noticing problems when you read the same thing over and over - give yourself a break of a few days here and there and then go back to it.
If your article's then chosen for editing, the sub-editor will go over it and then send it to the editors, who will then get the final say over whether any changes need to be made for inclusion in the official guide. If there's something you later notice to be amiss, you can contact the editors and politely request the change you'd like and your reasons for it. I have done this on 2 occasions, and they have been very helpful.
And that's my take on contributing an article. The 'Contribute' pages give you wonderful information, and plenty to think about.

My pleasure. Here is where I show the extent of my ignorance: I use a PC and have no idea what a digi-box is. That's because I am both old and out of the loop

Sometimes I feel very much older, but more often I'm surprised to discover that I'm as old as I am. Life is weird.
And now I'm sort of more educated about technology. So thanks.
