h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Isn't is about time? Let's face the facts:

1. You could build a new Eden based on her advice.

2. She's very, very lovely.

3. She can't cook, and I have the constant urge to pop over (the 200 or so miles) and make her something really nice.

4. She's called Venus, for Bob's sake.

5. She has lots of owls. I mean lots.

6. She makes a cracking cuppa. This may be biased, because I had a long drive after meeting her, but as tea goes it was one of the best.

7. She smiles a lot; a really nice, open smile. You can't help but be a fan after seeing the smile.

8. She will go a hugely long way to help you out without being asked. She sorted out enough plants to fill the boot of my old Fiat Brava on the basis that I might possibly be passing by.

9. She knows the names of things in Latin. That means she's quite clever, and almost a Gnomon.

10. She writes beautifully about subjects she cares about.

It's such a worthy cause I'd offer to be club treasurer and not embezzle even a penny.

11. She is a most gracious Hostess to weary international travellers, feeding them dinner, and giving them a place to sleep.

12. She makes a perfect tour guide to same such travellers.

13. She is generous to a fault, sharing the first cherry tomato of the season with a friend.

14. KNOWING there are no good in Canada, has kept a friend well stocked in quality beverage stock.

15. Far too bashful of her own qualities, and does deserve to be recognized.

Please, accept my application for membership, perhaps as "Sergeant at Arms".

16. She is always gentle with creatures of nature. Even if they are verrrrry slow.
