No, I have never heard of Barnet FC - a football club, I assume? I am to football what Ozzy Osbourne is to cosmological theory.
Underhill popped into my head when h2g2 needed a nickname as I had just finished a novel in which a character named Underhill played a central role. That's all there is to it.
