Hellow an welcome to h2g2 I hope you have not had the problems I have had in learning to use the service.
When I first joined h2g2 it last year in May it took me 3 months to realise to create my own space.
I have had to learn how to use h2g2 through begging people to inform me of how to use. When you have been as long as have people do take it fore granted that you can use it.
I have only started to learn the very basics of guideml in November last year and pictures just recently.
What it makes it very frustrating for me is that alot of the advice pages tend to make me more confused ie Guideml clinic or how to spice up your user page. It is written for people who have at least level 1 in desktop publishing. I have only very rudimentary knowledge of desk-top publishing and all I know is in word-processing.
What I am going to do is write enteries to help people with very little or no knowledge in computers as the help that there is far too complicated even for me to understand.
Did you know it was only very recently that I learnt you had to subscribe to your own page or entries that you made. I also just recently learnt that you had if you want to keep up-to-date with new conversations on another researcher's page you have to subscribe to the conversations of that page but no-one will tell you that.
If you find any difficulties in using h2g2 I will only be happy to answer them.
I am for waffling on like this but I hope you will not have to go through my experiences to learn how to use h2g2.

Hi JA
Yes this place is a bit confusing. Especially the fact that there are so many places to leave a message. I mean, I could leave a message for you by visiting your home page, or by discussing any of your entries, or repling to your message from my page....
And now you tell me i have to subscribe to conversations. What does that mean exactly?
Your idea of an entry on how to use this place sounds great, because as far as computer literacy goes, i'm still in kindergarten
Thanks for offering to help. I'm sure i'll need it.
Slightly confused Sue

If you subscribe to them as friends. On your page on the top right you will see my friend in blue click onto that and you will receive regular up-dates of their journals. It also is a good short cut if you want to go their page. A friends list will appear at the bottom of your page once you have clicked on to my friend.
