now you know what bugs me to no end?
science class. not like the actual subject. that is fine and dandy. but my teacher...!
today we happened to be discussing boyle's law. now if you don't know what this is, it is (simply put) that when you decrease the amount of volume for a gas and none of the gas is taken out, the gas will become more crowded. so then, of course, a few people aren't listening. these people happened to be guys. she talked to them with an air of authority, something like this:
"now boys, i'm gonna tell you what i tell my sons everytime. i should know, i raised 4, well no 2, but i have 4 boys of my own. but some day, some girl is going to come up to you, and she is going to say: (she says this in a mocking tone, as if she had never actually done this) 'honey, the car is making a funny noise! what's wrong with it?'
and it would be nice if you would just have a basic idea of what to tell them then."
now, something else ladies and gentlemen, she was explaining how cylinders work, and the way the pistons work, and what this has to do with science.
i am a girl, and i found this rather amusing. but she was explaining pistons and cylinders for crying out loud! perhaps i am just lucky that my dad explains these things to me. perhaps though, they should already know this. i mean, they are almost old enough to drive, they should already know the basics of how their car works. or-i am sorry to say, but it is the truth- the mechanics will squeeze all the movey they possibly can out of the poor little wretches. they do that all they can, but if you know what's wrong they can't. and so, i end this entry with a message: know what you are working with when you are going to use something. it really helps.
