Man, it's a small world isn't it We've both met Wammo Did you meet any of the others? Christina? Stan? How long ago was it? Tell me all about your Spankers experience Do you want me to get any CDs for you? I still work part time at a used CD store here in Austin and they get Spankers CDs in from time to time. Wammo's CDs are a bit more rare and hard to get but they have those in occasionally too. Very different from what the Spankers put out

I have all the Wammo albums - even "fat headed stranger" (got it through Amazon from a CD shop in Austin). His new one "Lowriders on the Storm" is fairly rocking, but the rants on the "Faster than the Speed of Suck album" are the funniest.
I met him while he was doing his best to recruit hot japanese groupies after the final show in their japan tour in spring 2004(or maybe it was 2003?) since I was there on the guest list of their record company in Japan - the throughly excellent Buffalo Records, which has released all kinds of stuff from Austin bands - I got invited to come along for some beers afterwards. The concert DVD they put out last year has a short, roughly edited set of home movies from the Japanese tour, including the gang singing the scrotum song in Japanese in a record store. It is rumoured they may come back this fall. If they do they will need to play bigger venues this time as they have sort of taken off here, I've turned all my expat friends onto them, and many japanese as well.
My friends back in Ontario got a copy of the DVD last year for Xmas from me and now want to bring them up north for a folk festival.

Oh, and I should mention that "If you love me you'll sleep on the wet spot" has become a party piece for my wife and I when I pull out the guitar. I met Wammo, Christina (who my wife thinks is the greatest singer on the planet, and I'm inclined to agree she's in the top ten at least) Korey Simone and Nevada Newman.

What a small world, to be sure My wife considers Wammo to be a personal friend, and when Christina and John got married at Antone's blues club here in Austin a few years ago we got an invite. Guy Forsyth performed the ceremony - he has some sort of certificate that he got online and makes him minister of some weird and obscure church, and which allows him to marry people
I love Faster Than the Speed of Suck
Have you heard any of the Spankers' earlier albums? The ones with Pops and Mysterious John? The went off and formed their own band, Shorty Long http://www.shortylong.com butI think Shorty Long have sort of ground to a halt
Korey looks just a bit too keen on those Japanese schoolgirls if you ask me

Tell your wife to urge Wammo to return to Japan ASAP, I will personally buy the ! It is indeed a small world, though as Steven Wright says, I wouldn't want to paint it.
I have the first album with "Superchief" and "Lee Harvey" et al and the newest one 'Strawberry' which is a live performance from about 1998 I think.
I think Guy Forsyth and I must have the same set of credentials
What is the newest line up like? I have to say losing Stanley Smith is gonna hurt their sound, as will losing Korey, who struck me as a great stage clown as well as performer. I loved his scratch solo on Hick Hop.
I did a little looking and found my review of Mercurial from last spring

"Batman" off of Fatheaded Stranger always makes me smile

When you say 'newest' line-up... it changes from day to day practically Last time I saw them (around Christmas I think), they had a pretty good line-up, even got Stan to come up out of the audience and play a few

'Superchief' was always my favourite part of a Shorty Long set They didn't perform it every show, but I'd often request it

I don't think so... in fact me and the missus can't even remember seeing him - it may be one of those 'you have to buy the DVD and freeze frame the scene to see him' situations. I think I'll br going to see the film again soon - I'll let you know if I spot him.
I bumped into Guy Forsyth last night at the cinema where I work. He'd been to see the HHGTTG and said that he loved it
