... leaving a forwarding address.
I have enormous sympathy for your views, having been through the same set of debates three times in the past. I don't know if my current stance is a symptom of apathy or of browbeating. (My current stance can be summarised as: 'yes, it is a restriction on freedom of speech, but we didn't honestly expect freedom of speech from the BBC, did we?'
However, I like your voice, and I *really* don't want you to disappear off my PC screen. The email address I use for h2g2 is [email protected], and I am paranoid about keeping the email addresses of other people secret.
If you *do* decide to cut and run, please email me.

Hi Ben,
Got my "Clare Short" hat on this evening. Maybe I'll just stick around for a while, and take the mick.
I do honestly believe that the BBC are being cowards on this one. They must know full well that the Great Debate messageboard is a complete shambles. The Great Debate message board forbids the posting of web-links other than BBC sites, is extremely badly moderated, slow and clumsy. They know that the intelligent and well-researched posters of h2g2 will not post there after a few days of frustration.
h2g2 represents a real threat to the Gov's push for control of the media during the forthcoming crisis. It is a well-known and respected site, it contains a larger than usual proportion of posters of higher than normal intelligence, and, prior to yesterday's diktat, those people enjoyed the freedom to post web-links to interesting stories which make bad reading for the Gov.
Paranoid ? I don't believe so.
Anyhow, I want to say for all your help and encouragement since I started here - you're truly a very nice person, and believe me, should I decide to go AWOL, I will keep in touch through other means
Now the. got to go read up on GuideML, and make a few alterations to my Space.... MWAHAHAHAHAHA !!!
Make sure you keep up with my daily reports on Troop Movements in Iraq - see my Space for regular updates

I just feel very numb about the whole thing, and have more emotion about the war and indeed about censorship, than I have opinion.
To be honest I just have the most enormous feeling of deja vu about censorship here on site, and the war just scares and saddens me.
I guess I just feel completely disenfranchised by this government, and totally impotent, and the combination has created a mixture of numbness and apathy.
Anyway - fight the good fight - it is one which needs fighting, and as I said, keep in touch here or there or elsewhere.

Thanks for the Troop Movements thread - a metaphor sustained with great bravery under awful conditions.
