My name is Feisor and I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) here at h2g2.

We ACEs are here to assist new researchers so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I have made a "Hints and Links for New Researchers" page at <./>A719840</.> - if you go there it will lead you to all sorts of places which will help find your way around and get to know this wonderful place

It should keep you busy for a while I am sure that you will love this community as much as we do There's lots of things to see, clubs to join and people to meet - please don't be shy - just jump right in - this is a friendly place. But be careful - it can become quite addictive - believe me I know

BTW - if you would like to give yourself a name (numbers can be a little impersonal - and hard to remember ) you can do so by hitting the "preferences" button on your screen. If you are viewing in "goo" (dark blue background) the button is at the left hand side nestled in the goo - don't know where it is in alabaster (white background) cause I'm a goo fan – and if you are viewing in the Brunel skin it's on left hand side of the screen - I am sure that you will find it there somewhere

Yup, I have... I used to go on the net loads a few years ago, I used to be Ocean, which all my friends changed to Oceano Lady or Oh-Shun, so I thought I'd "get back to me roots" Heh
Not too naff is it?? *worried*

I think it's great - now click on the preferences button and change your number to a name - much easier to remember

ANyway - if you don't like it you can always change it - there are no exclusive nick names on hootoo - and the "tags" on the names (princess of xxxx, keeper of whatever) change more often than some researchers underwear

Heh heh... Yeah... I just changed mine... To a character from "Hackers." Oceano Lady was a it nostalgic.... My old friends seem to have abandoned the net, so I thought, what the hey I'll get myself a new handle

Ummm.... I was wondering can you send messages to members without intruding in one of their conversations? Cos I can't seem to find a message centre

The first thing to remember here is that there are no private conversations - you have access to all threads - and otheres have access to all yours - anyone can leave a message anywhere.

To leave a message on someone's space simply go to their space and "Leave a Message" - you'll see the button

I hope that this answers your question - there is no actual real time chat facilities on hootoo - but there's definitely lots of chatting and socialising (and and )
