Hi there Unc!

Just dropping by to say hello ("Hello!"), how are are you, and all the usual pleasantries("How are you? How's the second year shaping up? And has the rambling season started again yet?"). And also to enquire if you knew about the mini-meet being arranged in Derby on November 15th - Felonious Monk's put a page together at A1132336.

Well, there's the usual headaches of timetable clashes, a faulty LAN cable, lost student card and almost missing out on the weekend to Keswick, but things seem to be settling out now. smiley - biggrin So far I've just been on the one ramble, a nice 12 mile walk up Lose Hill, Mam Tor and Win Hill, but that will soon be changed by aforementioned trip to Keswick. (Ramsoc has a lot more members this year and there weren't enough places, but thanks to a minibus and a private youth hostel I still get to go).

Otherwise there's been a lot of attempting to sort the house. Despite making constant trips to Sainsburys to restock on orange juice and mini rolls we still haven't remembered to get any oven gloves. Apart from that everything is sorted now, except that my LAN cable doesn't work. smiley - steam There was a slightly embarrising moment attempting to find the train station, only to realise it was around the corner, but I no longer feel quite so directionally challanged and even managed to give directions to Middle Street (whether she ever got there we will never know however). smiley - laugh

I'd heard of the meet, and thought it clashed with the Snowdonia weekend, but on second thoughts that's two weeks previous. (I'm terrible with dates) Well, Derby's not exactly far away, and that horrible report will be done and dusted by then, so I guess I should put my name down. smiley - magic

So how are you doing?
smiley - cheers

Congratulations on getting to know the local geography! It took me well over nineteen years and a university education to work out Middle Street (I didn't get out much back then... about the same as now, really smiley - winkeye). And it took even longer for me to get a handle on the train station (I used the train even less). Of course, trains feature more prominently now, since Birmingham's the nearest I have to go to meet up with anyone, and I still have to go back to Swansea fairly frequently. I was there for the end of Freshers week, which was fun, and another excursion is due soon. Can't go walking though! smiley - cross Even though I could technically rejoin the club, I don't think the coach'd pick me up from here.

I probably won't be able to make the Derby meet myself, which I'm slightly disapponted about, on account of almost certainly being in Bristol drinking lots and lots and lots of smiley - redwine. Oh yea!

Trying to direct someone from the universtiy to Sainsbury's by car is still a bit of a hard one though. Probably cheaper to go by coach to Swansea anyway, one of my house mates does frequently and it only costs her £10 return

No walking! Now that's bad smiley - yikes

I'm not sure if I can go or not, I'm useless with dates, but I think I can. It is only a week from the Oxford meet though, which I'm aiming to get to.

Ah smiley - redwine, nice smiley - biggrin.
