Thanks.
If you feel like adding a footnote: "Wings Over Mt. Everest" (Gaumont British/Skibo Productions) won the Short Subject (Novelty) Oscar in 1935

That's a great little fact, I'll definitely add that
I've added a few links too, but still working through…

That looks great - lots of nice links! One slight problem I think is that having put the Oscar footnote in the body of the text, that paragraph is now a bit clunky. Can I suggest a rewrite of the paragraph along the lines presented in the following post?

"Other members of the family have also achieved notability. William........Nelson. James, the 4th Duke, invested heavily in the Darien Scheme that bankrupted Scotland leading to the Union with England and died as a result of the duel he fought with Lord Mohun in Hyde Park in 1712. Air Commodore Douglas Douglas-Hamilton, the 14th Duke, became the first person to fly over Mount Everest, a feat celebrated in the documentary "Wings Over Mt. Everest" (Gaumont British/Skibo Productions) which won the Short Subject (Novelty) Oscar in 1936."

As you can see, I've checked the Oscars website again and found I was looking at the 1936 awards not the 1935 ones as I originally thought! I should learn to double check things more often

I've re-written that bit as suggested, added a few more links and a French title in brackets and put the long quote in a Blockquote. Would you like to have a thorough read-through and let me know if there are any further changes you would like me to make/unmake?
If not, does this version of your entry has your blessing to go on to the next step of its journey to the Front Page?

The Oscars website lists the film title as Wings Over Mt. Everest - perhaps they thought people wouldn't know it was a mountain, I leave it up to you to decide whether it's significant enough to change.
Other than that, I'm very happy with the way it looks. Thanks for all that hard work

By the way, do you have any suitable photos that could illustrate the entry? If so, send them to artists @h2g2.com

I've searched for a picture of Abram Combe but have not found anything, although there does seem to be a portrait of his brother George in the National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
So, this afternoon I've had a walk along Babylon Road and taken some photos (it, fortunately, being the second sunny day we've had this year) and I will send them wherever it is we send photos to as soon as I have discovered where that might be.
