I'm Ancient Brit an old chap 2 years older than that Celtic Fan Tommy Mac.
I would like you to go over to his space and join the conversation 'The Happy Wanderer' You two seem to have a common interest in Celtic and you would do better to discuss such issues in a personal space. This is not intended to be rude I'm just trying to help you follow the protocol for linking together. smiley - ok

Glad that you made it over to Tommy's space. You catch on quicker than he does. I can't get him to stand still long enough to listen. He says he's happy blundering around BotF so I don't want to give him direct links to h2g2.
I'm sure that if he got a feel of a few basic features he'd find his way around and enjoy himself even more. I'll keep on at him. smiley - ok
The link you asked about with regard to etiquette is here. A644681

Thanks for the link to Netiquette - very useful! It's never too late to learn (I hope!!). I must say, though, I do rather enjoy Tommy's anarchic, "pioneering spirit"-type attitude! Very Scottish...

I've skimmed through some of the h2g2 articles. Most of them are somewhat "The Matrix/X Files" sort of level, disappointingly; compared to some of the other philosophy articles there. If I ever get time maybe I'll try writing one.

Thanks for the vote - I keep hoping people will read Hegel for themselves but he is a bit difficult!!
I've voted for all of yours now - they're very good. I think us oldies have demonstrated a clear advantage of the University of Life!!

Thanks Chris
I have to say and write things as I see them from my stand point I am not particularly well read but have a fair grasp of what life is about being a old boy of the University of life. I have no criminal record a clean driving license a lot of friends no real enemies that I know of. I am of no particular political or religious persuation. I play the game of life as I understand the rules. If I feel it is warranted I turn the other cheek. If I am so minded I give what I receive in both directions. I'll prod our two specialists if they don't pick up on posts on their articles.smiley - ok

For the last couple of days I've been having technical problems with this site but they seem to have sorted themselves out...

Stitches is now back into her full routine which means my spare time is considerably reduced but I'll try and throw in the odd pearl of wisdom when I get the chance

smiley - smiley No, I didn't mean your newbies page; I was asking about the info page that Frankie had highlighted a couple of postings previously, the existence of which I was unaware. It contains statistics pertaining to conversations.

I've just found the stats page too - it makes a quick and convenient way of getting into current conversations - hence I have now just hi-jacked yours!

Myself, Tommy and Lou seem to be competing for the medal for who spends the most time on this website. There is a link to the stats page from the front page now, although I'm sure it wasn't there before.

Lou, (Listy) Not around too much, don't be offended if I don't reply.. I'LL TRY!

Hello!
Bumped into you again through the stats page. I've never really spoken to you, Chris, so Hi!
I was trying to spend most time on the site (if you're being sad, you may as well do it properly) but since my english teacher gave me 105 essay questions (you think i'm exagerating - i kid you not) for Monday, I've been spending less and less time here. And not many people have been on - DON'T LET THIS SITE DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please keep it alive!
Cunning thought - that "Longest story game" thing could be published - the biggest mass story written thing in the world - have to check Guiness Book and see how big it would have to be....

Anyway... see you later
Lou xxxx

Hello Lou

105 questions for Monday sounds a little excessive!! brings to mind the Python's "Summarising Proust" competition...

We spent the afternoon in Glasgow shopping yesterday (Saturday mornings are taken up with Gwen's ice skating and dancing lessons) and I've been really busy this past week so I've only had time to pop the occasional comment into the conversations.

However, I might have a day off tomorrow so I may be able to write some longer postings...maybe try and revive some of the old threads.

I like the idea of the biggest mass story ever - I'll add something to it tomorrow.

Chris
p.s. Gwen is enjoying having a conversation with you - she's telling all her friends about it smiley - smiley

Thanks...for a (slightly out of date) picture of her go to [Broken link removed by Moderator](hope I've typed that correctly).

As for the story, I have been following it with interest but usually by the time I think of something to add to it, it's moved on (to Scunthorpe). I had a shock when I looked at it just now as you've mentioned my bete noir (sorry, no accents)...Sheepdog's Apple White paint!! I once had to decorate a whole wing of a nursing home with that stuff...the mere mention of it makes me smiley - flustered or smiley - silly or something...

I'm just going to check the link to Gwen's stickerworld page - if it doesn't work I'll repost it
