As about the similar true event that has been occupying the news (but not the H2G2 Forum, oddly [no, I don't mean the 3000th U.S. fatality in Iraq]) I felt uncomfortable about the Faux News story to which I linked.
While I do feel that it is arguable that Mr. Bush has committed war crimes, etc., I don't think he should be hanged. But then, I didn't think that Mr. Hussein should have been hanged. I'll not elaborate: instead, I will provide a link which pretty handily sums up my feelings: http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/123106A.shtml
(there are other pieces on truthout today [like every day] that are well worth the read, as well)

I agree completely. I consider the death 'penalty' most inappropriate, and the spoof wasn't all _that_ funny.
But the 'My Little Goat' reference was just too much
truthout is already on my 'most watched' list -- even though some of the articles are depressing..
I like http://www.crooksandliars.com/ too -- a bit on the lighter side, but no one in particular knows these days we need laughter

Happy new Year Anhaga!
I really loved the Dubya hanging thing myself. Have already shared it via email with people I know will also love it!

I feel no joy in the hanging of any one.
this evening as we tosted marshmallows over the dregs of maple flooring I asked: Why couldn't he have been exiled, like Napoleon, to some equivalent of St. Hellena? To Baffin Island, perhaps? If ever there was a time when death would be the punishment, why didn't they do it in 1815? Have we not progressed?"

When I saw the literal footage on telly of Sadam's execution and the taunting of him, I felt uncomfortable and not okay about it. But the link you gave of Dubya I took as humour and/or art and found it very very funny and ironic.

With the exception, according to a recent issue of In Our Time, the sack of Constantinople, history is indeed written by the winners. It was ever so.

At the moment, however, it is hard to say who, if anyone, anywhere, in any meaningful sense, is winning.
