The Road to Xanadu

Post 1

Effers;England.

It has arrived. As promised a slightly faded front cover, with that wonderful pattern design on the front ie it's the paperback version.

I cannot believe I'd not heard of this book before. Kubla Khan and The Rime of the Ancient Mariner are two of my all time favourite poems...and like 'what we really happened in the Marabar Caves' in A Passage to India, I've always been obsessed with the whole shooting the Albatross incident, and why; I've done it myself and I don't know why...

Anyway it'll be a journey of discovery. It'll probably be slow and I may read in a different way to how I used to...

We could chat here about it a bit yeah? But could you hold back a bit from the full force of your understanding and interpretation until I've got more into it...I had to try to do that with Gif when he was reading Remembrance of Things Past, and we discussed it.

You've said it's a massively important book for you as is that for me. Yes I know this isn't a novel but its dealing with psychology/creativity and the Unconscious which they have in common...but specifically to do with these poems...oh I'll find for myself....

Hope you are having a good day. smiley - smiley

Up to page 12...and loving it. So incredibly rich with imagery. And all about 'chaos' in different ways. And he's twisting and turning in his style..and dancing around.

It's to be savoured.
